I still reckon it would have been fine, at least for the first few months with R-27Rs. Just because its USSR, does not mean it must be top dog. Britains only aircraft this year was an 11.3 vs everyone elses 12s.
Soviets could have gotten Mig-29 with R-27Rs at 11.7.

They’re near impossible to distinguish aside from loadout, all Gripen A’s were modernised to Gripen C standard, the C itself is just a newly manufactured A that rolled off the assembly line with the mods the A received, but as they only have 9L/i’s we cant see if it has skyflash (which would mean A) or certain Gbu’s etc which would be the C modernisation.

This is also true. And the way they ended up deploying the R-73 this year made it really clear it could’ve come with regular R-27’s instead of ER’s for the 9.13.
We should, and absolutely could… But minor nations are not allowed to be Meta
There’s no chance they’ll give Gripen JUST AIM9Ls and expect it to fight Flankers
