As many of you know (and if you don’t, feel free to check out my extended Israel ground forces), the HVSD/ADAMS is one of the SPAAs that could be added to the Israeli ground forces after the Chaparral. Thanks to @ForeverAloneRage, we recently found some new and impactful information about the HVSD/ADAMS.
The images were sourced from a Japanese book about ground vehicles

The major new information discovered about the HVSD/ADAMS is the following:
- The HVSD/ADAMS holds reserve ADAMS SAMs in those large boxes in front of the launcher, unknown exactly how many but the cubic launcher containers are clearly visible in the first image. Entirely possible there’s also extra Phalanx gun ammo there too, but unconfirmed.
- The HVSD/ADAMS’s truck model has finally been confirmed: Mercedes-Benz NG 2628A. My original guess in my suggestion was NG 2636, so I was close! Anyhow, this confirms that the HVSD/ADAMS’s engine was a V8 280hp diesel engine and a ZF 160 manual transmission who’s the amount of gears I can’t find online, tho it’s worth mentioning the transmission I previously thought was present on the HVSD/ADAMS, the ZF 16S130, had 16 forward gears and 2 reverse gears so expect somewhere around that amount of gears.
- The mass of the Mercedes Benz 2628 A is 12 tons, and considering the additional ADAMS SAMs I estimate that the HVSD/ADAMS’s total weight is 21.45 tons considering the Phalanx, ADAMS missiles, and other systems. This would result in a horsepower-to-weight ratio of 13.05hp/t which is practically identical to the horsepower-to-weight ratio of the FlaRakRad, so expect similar mobility from the HVSD/ADAMS.
- We already have overwhelming evidence the HVSD/ADAMS was indeed a prototype and not a mockup, and those new images and text add further proof to this.
