If relict is so good against kinetic why haven’t we seen any take numerous hits and still drive it off. All these claims coming from one source, there’s no neutral source depicting its ability to survive tandem munitions.
I’ve read ERA in general doesn’t really work well vs high velocity darts. Not even talking about special break up tips and such.
My point, if a sabot is going 1500ms and its pyrophoric (DU) its either going to go through before the era has time to do anything OR its going to burn through the metal BECAUSE DU has a higher melting point than the armor its hitting.
Highschool level physics and chemistry can tell you that 4 or 5 little steel plates at an angle will not have time to work against a 1500ms projectile at 500c to 1000c
Yes it was a lenghty article. Alot chemistry. About explosives and how quick they unfold the counter explosion effect. To make a long story short: High velocity darts pass the whole ERA array before the explosives unfold their power. There are “slow” and "quick"explosives, but even the best won’t really interfere with APSDSF going through.
Its entirely possible the whole ERA thing is a hoax (and just works vs. other chemical rounds/ATGMs).

That’s totally incorrect. ROMOR, ARAT 1 and 2, BRAT, CLARA and far too many others to list have been developed and boast vastly improved performance irl than K-1 or Blazer. The west has designed and produced very effective explosive reactive armor systems. (None of which are accurately modeled in the game, because gaijin thinks K-1 is the pinnacle of reactive armor for CE and anti-KE ERA is actually space magic)
The difference between the west and Russia is that the western countries don’t want to see their supporting infantry get turned into giblets by an ERA tile exploding nearby.

the difference is that West still believes that infantry comes with tanks, whereas latest wars show otherwise.
Still i think the main flaw of russian tanks is high probability of crew not surviving penetration. Western tanks cost times more but mostly provide the crew survival, which should be one of the main concerns

You do realize era is the simplest of the modern addon armor options right? it’s not difficult to replicate and it’s incredibly cheap to produce. It’s 60s tech.
It’s stronger than K-1 IRL for CE protection by at least 100mm effective.
It’s ERA, just designed to produce reduced fragmentation while still providing strong CE protection.
CLARA is literally made by Dynamit Nobel, a corporation that has been producing explosives for centuries now. It is explosive reactive armor. The only difference is that instead of steel it uses composite materials.
For the last war the USA was in, infantry support for tanks was absolutely critical. So CE protection that doesn’t cause friendly casualties is a boon.

Ukraine is not an example of a modern war, it’s an example of how extreme early incompetence and extreme overcompetence lead to half a modern war, there was no real air war and there still isn’t to this day, despite ships being available they had virtually 0 effect on the battlefield outside cruise missilee, because of how terrible they are and because one side straight up has no navy the sea is essentially just a death trap with very little being leveraged to influence the war in non economic ways. It’s a mess of circumstance and we still have exactly no idea what a modern war will look like.
