I’m trying to understand Gaijin’s logic. Why did you decide to introduce a round designed to defeat Kontakt-5 armor now? Why not six years ago when tanks equipped with Kontakt-5 were first added to the game?
And you’re giving this round to an Abrams that will almost certainly never face tanks equipped with Kontakt-5. What’s the logic behind that?
It would have made much more sense to introduce the M829A3 for the U.S. five years ago, and introduce the M829A4 today instead.
Besides, this round is practically ineffective against Relikt ERA.
And how long are we supposed to wait for the M829A4? The round that was specifically developed to defeat Relikt ERA. Another 5–6 years?
And by the time it’s finally added, it’ll be completely useless.
Not really, because the Abrams has been performing really well so there was absolutely no need for it.
Why now? Well they probably wanted to add something that gave the US SEPv3 a slight edge over the Australian one. However they kind of killed any hype for the SEPv3 by giving all the 12.7 Abrams M829A3.
I can understand giving it to both the SEPv3 and M1A2 trophy, but they shot themselfs in the foot by also giving M829A3 to the SEPv1 and SEPv2.
For 2–3 years, the U.S. has been performing poorly on the ground—especially after the introduction of Relikt and spall liners. So why wasn’t it added back then? And why is this shell not available to all M1A1 tanks? Do they have a different gun or something?
Right now, the U.S. has the worst statistics, second only to Germany. And giving them such a nerfed tank and a limited shell feels like mockery.
It’s interesting how when Gaijin introduced the Pantsir-S1, they didn’t think about whether aviation could counter it. Or when they introduced the Kh-38MT, did they consider whether the ADATS could handle that missile? Or when they added the BMPT Terminator, did Gaijin think about the players who would be playing against it?
Yet somehow, when it comes to the U.S. or any other nation, the immediate concern is whether Soviet players will be able to deal with it.
Because ammo is matter of decision and balance, M1A2 Abrams have (on the Live Server) have the third penetrator with highest values in milimeter? That’s the best reason I can find. That’s applied to every nation in-game if you’re trying to emplain Russian bias in this discussion, why isn’t 3BM44M given as top round to lower battle rating Russian and late Soviet vehicles, a 3BM42 modernization made to defeat NATO armor? It’s been 6 years since the M1A2 Abrams has been implemented in War Thunder.
I play T-90M, is my favourite tank in Soviet Union ground top tier because it has armor and that’s about it; You add anti-ERA properties to the game and you entire remove the point of the vehicle. Firepower? Decent, not terrible; Mobility? We have no information on T-90M2, T-90M don’t have such thing. But anyways, I really want the game to be realistic so maybe anti-ERA should be a thing.
Thats what happens when you still use shitty autoloader designs from 60’s.
They reached a point where neither carousel nor loading mechanism can handle bigger shells which further proves that having bigger caliber doesn’t equal bein better.
