M829A3 Bug report advice

Hi, im putting together a bug report for the implementation of M829A3 and would appreciate any advice. My report details and proves that M829A3 does not use a steel tip anti ERA assembly and instead is a 806.5x25mm DU longrod. The method of defeating K5 ERA is just shear brute force from the material strengh of the thick rod. This implementation would boost the flat pen from 634mm at 10m to over 700 at 10m

Just realized i forgot to remove an incorrect source from the body of the argument where it was removed from the appendix. Ignore source FY2003/2004 DOT&E annual report as this has no mention of the design of m829a3

There was also an error in the maths that im correcting now, Will reply again with a fixed version of the document

The weight problem comes from using the incorrect patent.
US20130125774A1 is not for M829A3 but for KET, an export version of M829A3 using tungsten and steel that was shown off at DSEI in 2013.

The better reference patent for A3 is US6662726B1: US6662726B1 - Kinetic energy penetrator - Google Patents

This patent was filed in 2000, coinciding with the M829E3 program. This describes a depleted uranium rod and a tungsten tip, which solves your weight issue.

Also, your weight for the sabot is an underestimation in all likelihood. While A3 did get a new three-petal sabot, the petals are also significantly longer than those on A2. I’m not sure where the 30% number comes from, but even if the material was lower density by 30%, it would not mean the A3’s sabot is 30% lighter as the petals themselves are larger.

The sabot weight reductions come from AMPTIAC source, where it explicitly states that they weight was reduced by 35% and then 30%.

But the sabot’s are not equivalent, A3 is larger. There may be some overall reduction in weight as I don’t think A3 sabot is 30% larger overall but it’s not a straight 30% drop from A2 sabot weight.

okay i found a source that states actual weight reduction for the sabot from M829A1 to M829A2, cant find anything for M829A2 to M829A3 though.
