I did a bit of research after using the ki200 and getting spark spark crit every game
Apparently its because the explosive filler doesnt detonate unless it hits certain parts of a plane. Not sure if this is the same issue

ki200’s Ho 155, found on all ground based IJNAS fighters, are absolute kackenscheissen and have been for over a year. What is the thang of da dawg is that except for the default “Hit” i always get with the gshussy 23l i get 1 bullet kills on anything, as well as DEFA and even fiddy cows. But it’s the vulcan and m39 and it’s just joever. On things like the f.16 ok you have goaded missiles, but on things like f-4e and especially f-5? the f-4e becomes a gunfighter once it’s missiles are expended, and the f-5s are literally one trick ponies whose trick is the gun which happens to be absolutely terrible.
Although no other gun is as bad right now as MachineGun 151, not even the almighty mineshell can do anything. Last time I went on K4 i had a match where I got seven hits on six different people and got 1 tapped by of course you guessed it: hispano mark2. The one that hurt me the most was when I managed to reverse a god damn spitfire mk24 and got a “Hit” on it’s wing root. I stg this game punishes the pursuit of skill development.
I’ve only experienced French jets but I feel you bro getting hits and no kills is always so painful… though the M50s are pretty decent and the DEFAs are awesome when it comes to damage
CatWerfer has a video… well, multiple videos on this. It’s been bug reported numerous times… with no action other than the bug report being closed as a “duplicate” of a report from two + years ago… even though it isn’t. Worth a look if you want to navigate to that bug report, which he is now trying to leverage, to address this issue.
Guns have been going through some changes lately.
While I can tolerate needing to pump long bursts of 20mm into enemies to kill them, getting “hits” with 50mm HEF several times consecutively will make me lose my marbles.
That specific issue was fixed. Last time I checked at least. You could see how the HE shells didn’t even fuse on soft materials (in damage simulation), and after a recent change they started fusing.
