M60 questions

Howdy! I was wondering why does the M60 (AOS) have a lees powerful round than the regular M60? Did it just never use it or fire it? Or is it a nerf to keep it from going to a higher BR? Thanks! :)

It’s not less powerful.

It has worse flat penetration, but superior angle penetration above 55 degrees, due to using a tungsten heavy alloy core rather than a tungsten carbide one. This also means it does not lose additional penetratrion when facing multiple plates of armor, either composites or spaced armor, as tungsten carbide shatters but tungsten heavy alloy simply erodes.

It is different shell. Currently we have M392A2 and M728. The difference was in 60 degree penetration, where M728 performed better. Now this doesn’t feel like that, M392A2 is better.

Here’s a penetration graph showing M392A2 and M728, X axis is the angle, Y axis is the armor penetration.

At the same time, you can test this for yourself, M728 can penetrate the upper glacis of tanks like the T-55AM, while M392A2 cannot, which is due to the fact that M392A2 shatters but M728 does not.

Thanks for that!
