So the M55 seems to about 47 crew members (yes I’m exaggerating but it’s still 6 guys) which I assume is what it takes to make it function. How the hell is it that it still manages to function (drive AND shoot) even after you kill all but 2 crew members? If it seriously takes a whole bunch of crew to make this thing function in the first place, how can it possibly still operate with 2/3 of its crew dead? So often you see these things take hit after hit, have 4 crew dead and still operate as if nothing happened.
The same as any other vehicle, the gunner loads each round then shoots, the driver just drives. Your loading time is significantly increased though, especially for something like the M55 which fires such massive rounds.
All well and good, but a quick Google will show that “Due to the immense size and weight of the 8-inch shells (over 100 kg), three crew members were dedicated to loading the gun.” Also, according to Wiki “The crew consists of six - a driver, commander, gunner, and three loaders.”
I very much doubt that the one crew member not driving the tank would be able to load the gun and fire it by himself. This is yet another example of where Gaijin’s one size fits all approach to crew functionality is incorrect.
Its a video game bro
It’s just another example of unrealistic creative liberties for the sake of gameplay really. I could point out a bunch of other unrealistic features like the kind you mentioned, but I’m not that motivated.
I get that. But Gaijin’s regularly going on about how realistic the game is… You can’t have it both ways. And by comparison, a lot of what the WT Air guys go on about as far as realism is WAAAAAAY more trivial than something like this that actually has a significant effect on gameplay.
You can, they do
Its the actual vehicle models that are claimed to be realistic not the overall game, its not a simulator
Eh, look at the Sturmtiger, that thing IRL took all 5 crew and a crane to reload.
What would you like to happen though. Should vehicles with heavy shells bail out sooner? Should you have to stop so both crew could work together to reload. Should the gunner hop on the 50 cal instead? That might work for the M55 but not similar vehicles like the fv4005 or sturmtiger. Does the injury level change whether a shell can be loaded, etc.
Also no single crew member should be able to hand rotate a turret, elevate/depress a gun, reload, and fire a machine gun at the same time so I think this is something we may just have to suspend our disbelief for.
mmm nope.
That was only when loading AMMO INSIDE THE TANK.
not when loading ammos on cannon.
Inside , there was 2 guys placing round on “reload rail” , and sliding that huge metal blob on breech
I would like for tank when it gets down to a crew level that prevents it from functioning, to be considered knocked out if you can’t spawn another crew member. There’s not really any difference between an M55 down to 2 crew than other vehicles that start with 3 or 4 crew when they’re down to one. Worst case scenario, the M55 can drive but not shoot, so it can cap but other than using an mg, can’t fight.
