I don’t enjoy quite a lot of vehicles in WT but they are still good

meh if youre using anything that isnt a wyvern or Sunderland in naval you’re making a mistake already.

Theres always firebrand too. I cant believe I skipped it as its quite the machine.

I dont think having a reason helps any, In fact the tenuous links are the problem : )

+1 for a UK TT vehicle, but probably would be most suitable as Premium or Event in order to preserve the status of the M4A3(76)W in the US TT . Would be especially notable as the UK TT currently lacks any 5.7 vehicles.

Presumably the vehicle name should be Sherman IVAY, as Canada used British nomenclature?

Well, I heavily disagree with the premium and event idea. As this is the only 76mm Canadian Sherman to see combat, but it was also modified, making it not a 1-1 C&P of the US one (even if the only thing that has an effect for WT is the over 200 shells could bring).

Would be a good starting point in building of a 5.7 line up in the research tree or an addition to one after it started to be built with the addition of prototype Cents or something, for the UK tree.

Also the Japanese have this(their own M4A3(76)W): M4A3 (76) W (Japan) | War Thunder Wiki

Only for the WW2 Shermans. That name would be heavily incorrect for this vehicle (and the 76mm A2 used by Canada). As both post war/76mm Shermans used by Canada used the E8 name.

Fair enough, I see the M4A2 (76) W was also used in larger numbers.

Japan is always something of a unique case, they lack so much equipment in some areas that adding vehicles like the A3 76 as Researchable is the only way to fill the tree.

On Premium/Researchable in the context of its potential addition to the UK TT, the A3 76 should be considered against current vehicles as well as potential competitors for the 5.7 line. Britain has a decent Rank III but zero vehicles at BR 5.7 right now, so perhaps the first 5.7 should be a Premium? Not sure if Gaijin has a policy for how to break into a new BR.

Comparing the A2 76 and A3 76, the A2 76 is clearly the main Canadian service 76 and should be Researchable on that basis, but I’d still put the A3 76 as a Premium in part due to the similarity. Obviously in a hypothetical Canadian or CANZAC TT the issue would be moot, this is about how to balance the A3 76’s placement in what is now (hopefully) becoming a more Commonwealth-based UK TT.

Well, yes, the M4A2 (76) W HVSS (called M4A2E8 in Canadian documents) was used in numbers by Canada; they were used only for training at home and in turn is unmodified. So apart from time, it’s really got nothing going for it.

Well, on the other hand, the M4A3E8 weren’t as numerous or used as long but were the primary tank of Canada during the Korean War, as they had changes as listed here:

My opinion is starting a BR with a premium is a quick way to doom it; it can only be stuff found outside the reasher tree.

Ideally they’d just copy the A2/A3 (76) folder to the UK tree, with the addition of some of the Indian Shermans in it as well (if they fit BR-wise). Allowing both and them some to be researchable.

So it comes down to:
A2E8: both the most used and longest used Sherman, but was never considered for the front line, and would be pure C&P for War Thunder but fits an existing line-up.
A3E8: Served as the tank Canada used during the Korean War, but was returned after it was over. Would need to have its internals remodelled, making it somewhat unique, but doesn’t fit an existing line-up.
(does pair perfectly with Prendergast’s Spitfire tho)

Damn, your mentioning of foldering the two of them just changed my mind entirely. That, along with the very valid point that while the A2 was more numerous, the A3 was in active combat in Korea.

The Extended / Reworked British Ground Forces Tech Tree by @ChieftainWarrior has plenty of 5.7 options, but still has the 4.7-6.3 gap between Churchill VII and Charioteer. The Heavy-to-Medium transition is already there, so why not fill it with both tanks in a folder? It even matches historically.

The order of the Churchills would need to change, but you can see what I mean.
