I know many people have complained that the M4A3 (76)W Sherman (M4A3E8) is a bad tank and is hard to play especially at a BR of 5.7 with up tiers. But with many smart flanking maneuvers and good shots, the M4A3 (76)W makes for a pretty good tank. I even use it in my BR 6.3 setup and it still can rack some decent kills. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I am actually beginning to think the M4A3 (76)W has quite the potential.
it is good, but it out performs in a full uptier. You can kill a tiger 2 frontally i think
Second best 5.7 after the Tiger H1 so idk
Its absolute beast. Once i figure out how to reliably disable jgpzr IV L/70 and tiger II with production turret frontally yall be sorry
It was always good. Just some people crying about using a US 76mm vs. Panthers and Tiger IIs in full uptiers.
A mobile, stabilized cannon with 5.9s reload firing APHE, with good traverse speed and gun depression.
What more can you ask for?
It’s just a mystery how the M18 is now 6.0. Maybe because it’s now a light tank and gets scouting but in combat capabilities the M18 is hardly any better.
Unparalleled mobility at that BR will do that to ya. Plus being the harbinger of CAS
Mobility is great but the gun handling is pretty bad. Combine that with extremely low survivability and you can’t effectively engage a lot of targets without getting killed.
At the end of the day, if the M18 player knows where they want to go on first spawn, the enemy team will usually literally be unable to prevent it from getting there first. There are some exceptions to this, but it’s a common occurrence. Simply by virtue of being on the enemy team’s flank, you are a distraction dividing the enemy’s attention (and a scouter too). Plus we all know how good APHE is when it comes to flanking shots, even from mediocre guns. If you get a lobby of people that only look forward, you’ll get a lot of mileage out of something that fast.
I mean, PaK Puma is 4.7 without a turret, without the benefit of tracks, and with arguably even less survivability. I mostly use it when playing 7.0 and a lot of my spawns in it do end up very poorly. Then you have the right combo of map and enemy team and you can literally get a nuke with it…
All light vehicles with good guns have been going up in BR for some time now, not just the M18. The Puma was like, what, 2.3 when I started playing? Or maybe 2.7, I don’t remember. It is now 3.7, and it’s in the rookie tech tree…
Besides, many of the M18’s adversaries from old 5.7 are now 6.0 as well, so in part it’s also a product of decompression.
I probably prefer the PaK Puma because of its ability to very quickly relocate with its super reverse speed.
So in my opinion the PaK Puma is much better at exploiting ambush positions and then relocating to another position.
It’s also pretty small and narrow.
Probably one of the best all-round tanks in the game.
Truely fits the medium tank label
All valid points, but tbh I still rate the turret and tracks as a significant enough improvement to warrant the BR difference. Having a turret opens up so many more spots for you to rat around
The snail to model wet stowage

Well, that didn’t help all that much.
The main improvement to survivability was storing the rounds on the hull floor, where the ammo was much less liked getting hit.
Tanks usually get knocked out by getting shot in the side, so ammo on the floor won’t get hit as easily.
