M3 Lee

happy to hear you’re having fun, I really wish I could find that energy. I’m not exactly an old player but I’ve been playing for a bit over 6 years now and I’m finding it really exhausting to get into a match now. That said, I love the M3 Lee and everyone advised me against getting the M3 Grant premium “it’s a low tier” “it’s just mid”. One of my best purchases. I love the thing. Happy hunting :)

Thanks for reading the note!

Nah, I get it. That newness wears off pretty fast, honestly. Still, if you’re having fun, that’s what really matters.

Just a love letter to an old funny tank. We need more posts like this on this forum.

The M3 Lee is arguably overpowered imo. It’s one of the few American vehicles in the game that could be called overpowered with any merit.

If only we could exchange those top tier cas complaints for most posts like these

This is what the forums should be, wholesome, not a load of swearing.

Thanks so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun writing about the Lee — it’s such a weird but lovable tank. It’s cool to hear other people appreciate it too!

Yeah, you’re not wrong. The firepower more than makes up for the armor and speed issues. I feel like a lot of people underestimate it until they’re on the wrong end of both guns at once. Did you have a favorite setup or tactic with it?

Definitely! It’s way more fun when people are just sharing their love for the game instead of getting toxic. Glad others feel the same way!

All I can recomend is to have separate keybinds for the two guns, and use the 37mm as your main gun, and the 75mm as a backup.

Thanks for the tip! I haven’t tried setting it up that way yet, but it sounds like a smart idea. I’ll definitely give it a shot next time I take the Lee out!

You can also set a keybind to “select” fire from the secondary gun, so when you use the scope, it’s from the 75mm’s POV instead of the 37mm. Just remember to have a key set to reset the weapon selection aswell.

That’s a great tip, thanks! I didn’t know you could switch the view like that.

Yeah, if you and an enemy are stuck in a hard corner, you can fire your secondary to get to them to think you’re reloading, then blast them with the primary

That almost cornily would make you win in a 1on1 like that.

I would like to point out what a monster this tank becomes if you assign a key bind for selecting the primary weapon. If you set the 75mm gun to the primary weapon fire and it’s the cannon you aim with in the sites, it becomes quite a devastating tank with it’s good pen and high rate of fire. The 75mm is barely different in performance to the Typical 75mm M3. Keep in mind, it becomes crucial to have a ‘reset weapon’ key bound to able to quickly revert back to the 37mm turret in a pinch.

Yeah, definitely a smart way to get the most out of the 75mm. Do you use it in long and in short range or just in short range?

Both,

At short ranges the reasonable mobility of the M3 and the quick-ish reload make it a great brawler. It also have several spare crew members if you take damage.

At longer ranges its still one of the best guns at 2.7 with decent pen paired with a reasonably mobile and well protected hull (Compare it to something like the SU-76 or the Marder.

All this and it’s got a capable turretedsecondary weapon in 37mm.

That’s a solid setup, honestly. Makes sense how it holds up well at both ranges with that combo. Didn’t realize the 75mm could be that effective on its own.
