M3 Lee

I really liked using the M3 Lee! Having both the 75mm and the 37mm guns gives it some serious firepower. The way War Thunder handles the aiming system is actually really cool. You can move both guns’ aiming circles together, and when the 37mm moves too far left or right and leaves the 75mm’s arc, the 75mm stops moving until the 37mm comes back into line. It’s a unique system, but it feels like it matches how the real tank would’ve worked, which I thought was awesome.

There are a couple downsides though. The biggest one is the speed—this thing is slow. Most of the time you’ll be one of the last to get to the cap point, which means enemies are already there waiting and ready to shoot you. But in a straight-up 1v1, the Lee does great. With both guns going, it’s easy to come out on top, and speed doesn’t matter as much in those fights.

Another issue I’ve run into is the armor. It doesn’t always hold up, especially if someone’s hiding behind a building or some cover. If you drive past and they shoot you in the side, they can knock out your driver or gunner, and that messes you up bad. If your driver’s out, you can’t move the tank to aim your 75mm, and if your gunner’s out, you just can’t shoot it at all. The 37mm can still shoot, but it’s not likely to win you that fight. Basically, don’t go charging around blind corners in this tank!

Also, the 75mm doesn’t have much aiming range left and right, so if your driver gets taken out, good luck trying to line up a shot.

All in all though, I think the M3 Lee is a really solid tank. It takes a little time to get used to, but once you figure it out, it’s a lot of fun. War Thunder did a great job making it feel realistic.

I remember flanking that thing and disabling one of the guns…only for the top turret to turn around and smite me

Yeah, that’s one of the negatives about M3 Lee

Do you have one?

Nah, I’m strictly GBR

You should try the USA! You would like it!

How long you been playing?

It’s nice to see someone having fun 😃

Maybe about 7 months now. Reached 11.7 ground just a few days ago

Thanks

Your better than me!

Maybe so, maybe not (my KDR is pretty bad…) but the biggest thing you have on me is just the novelty of WT. When I first switched from AB to RB, everything felt really difficult, challenging, and exciting. Not to say any battles I participate in now are less exciting, but they just lack that certain feeling of being new.

Anyways sorry for the nostalgia rant lmao I haven’t even been playing for a full year yet

happy to hear you’re having fun, I really wish I could find that energy. I’m not exactly an old player but I’ve been playing for a bit over 6 years now and I’m finding it really exhausting to get into a match now. That said, I love the M3 Lee and everyone advised me against getting the M3 Grant premium “it’s a low tier” “it’s just mid”. One of my best purchases. I love the thing. Happy hunting :)

Nah, I get it. That newness wears off pretty fast, honestly. Still, if you’re having fun, that’s what really matters.

Just a love letter to an old funny tank. We need more posts like this on this forum.

The M3 Lee is arguably overpowered imo. It’s one of the few American vehicles in the game that could be called overpowered with any merit.

If only we could exchange those top tier cas complaints for most posts like these

This is what the forums should be, wholesome, not a load of swearing.

Thanks so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun writing about the Lee — it’s such a weird but lovable tank. It’s cool to hear other people appreciate it too!
