Am I just Losing my Mind or is this a Bug/Misrepresented?
Tow can Aim -19 but is locked to the Gunners sight of -6
even when in commanders Sights.

That document is talking about the sight traverse, meaning for the CIV, that it can slew 360 degrees and point up 60 degrees and down -22 degrees.

The TAS can slew it’s mirror 5 degrees left or right and 17 degrees up or down, this allows it to match the CIV’s elevation and depression angles without the 360 degrees spinning ability.

Sight FOV in game is how wide the screen’s view is at a certain zoom level, not how far it can slew.

Tow Launcher has a -19, Yet you are unable to Fire at anything under -6…
That makes zero sense,
Everything I read Including this Document says the CIV has -22.

When using the Tow you are stuck with the gunners -6 even when using the Commander’s Sights that have -9 in game…

-22

Zoom in still -22

In Aim View -9 un zoomed

In Aim View -6 Zoomed in

gun won’t phase through the tank gaijin pls fix

The TOW… Not the gun

oh yeah the commander camera can move more if you dont “lock aim” with it

Thats not a minus though, thats a dash, eg, the CITV FOV is 38 degrees by 9 degrees 38-9, the gunner’s sight is 18 by 6 degrees 18-6.

A grand majority of gunners sights in game have X-6 values for their gunners sights while CITVs range from X-7 to X-9, with X in both cases being the FOV laterally in degrees.

Now sight elevation / depression wise I have no clue as I don’t really know how measuring such could be achieved in game.

CIV can aim to -9
Gunners sight -6

You can aim to -9 in Aim Mode but the Tow will not work.

Why would you be at a max of 10 Degrees if you can’t even get to -9…

I believe the gunner sight is linked to the 25mm gun. Meaning that you can only fire in >=-10 degrees. I could be wrong though.

There should be a rework to make it more realistic. Might also give Gaijin a new way of implementing FCS features.

Gunners sights in game are -6

You are correct, the sight can depress to -9 degrees in game as the sight is fixed to the gun’s depression.

This is why on the HSTV-L or RDF/LT you can look quite a ways down even though the sight is just 38-9, as the gun can depress to -15 degrees.

As shown the gun is depressed to it’s maximum over it’s front, -14 degrees, which is not 9 degrees.

You can test such with the M3A3 as well easily just by shooting the ground.

Maximum gun depression.

And switching to the sight, the point of impact is right where it should be, a little off to the bottom right as thats where the gun is located.

It’s not about the Gun.
The Tow system has -19
image

you are unable to use the -19 cause you are locked to the -9 gunner sights
Edit- and the comanders sights have -9 in-game but should be -22 allowing you to use the Tow on a hill.

Again the gunner sight’s maximum depression is -9, not -6, all gunner sights are tied to the main gun of the tank, their maximum depression is the same as the main gun.

The TOW launcher is not the main gun, thus it’s max depression is irrelevant to the depression of the gunner’s sight.
