HISTORY

Spoiler

their age in the late 1980’s and already then Norway started to search for an vehicle to replace these with, as it were important to have vehicles up to date and the NM135 would in a short time become obsolete. After Norway had sorted out an selection of contenders, those vehicles were prepared for a large Trial in Norway wich were to be held in two rounds, the first in 1991-1992 wich mostly were to train the Norwegian crew and testing at Trandum Camp in Norway, and the vehicles used here were the German Puma/Marder prototype, the British FV501 Warrior, the Swedish CV90 and the Spanish ASCOD. This first part of the trial lasted a couple months.

The second and more important trial took place in 1992-1993, and because the crew’s were trained on the vehicles, the proper trials could begin. This time at Hjerkinn shooting range. As Norway’s climate can be quite harsh at times, and with small roads and difficult and steep terrain, often with several meters of snow, the mobility of the vehicles, especially their ability to drive in and trough snow, most of the testing were done in the snowy terrain of Hjerkinn Shooting Rnage in mid-Norway. They also had to be able to handle the very cold temperatures they would face here. The criteria of the trials were as follow;

-Crossing 80 Meters of swamp
-Firing (Accuracy)
-Firing at -15,+15,+30,+45 degrees celsius
-Driving in Deep Snow round 1
-Driving in Deep snow round 2
-Slalom - This is a skiing style, basically means zigzag
-Circuit, 1.5 m snow, round 1
-Circuit, 1.5 m snow, round 2
-Circuit, 6-7 km long, medium terrain
-Circuit, 4 km long, rough terrain
-Slope, 1 m snow, round 1
-Slope, 1 m snow, round 2
-Slope, 1 m snow, round 3
-0.8 m Step
-15% Slope, ice
-17.5% Slope, ice
-Fording River, 1 m deep, 10m wide
-Fording River, 1.7 m deep, 10m wide
-Cold start, -20 degrees Celsius
-370 km drive
-Track change

The clear winner of this trial, were the Swedish cv90 with the German Schützenpanzer ACV Schützenpanzer ACV Puma prototype in the 2nd place, those had the best performance overall, with the cv90 almost being supreme, as it could both handle cold temperatures really well and being light enough to have very good mobility. For example the cv90 could drive in circles around the M2A2 Bradley, wich got stuck in the snow as you can see in the video i attached below.

This specific suggestion is focusing on the Bradley M2A2, witch participated in this trial. The M2 Bradley is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle that was manufactured by BAE Systems and entered service for the first time in the beginning of the 1980’s in the united states. This vehicle are intended as an recognizance vehicle with the ability to transport infantry. its armed with a 25mm bushmaster cannon and two ATGM Tow launchers, (among the contenders in the trial, it had the absolute best ability to fight enemy armor).

The M2A2 were firstly introduced in 1988, and received an better eigne wich yielded 600 horse powers and HMPT-500-3 Hydromechanical transmission, the protection and armor of the vehicle was also improved, wich should protect the vehicle against both RPG fire and 30mm apdfs rounds. These upgrades removed its amphibious ability. After a lot of amor upgrades on the entire vehicle, the vehicles weight went up to 30,519 kg. The vehicle seems to have recieved a green/white winter camouflage for the trials.

IN GAME
This could be an amazing event, squadron or battlepass vehicle for Norway in Warthunder. Te M2A2 Variant would of course have to be implemented to USA firstly, thats self saying. due to poor acess of images and very detailed infomration, i am not too sure if there were made any changes to the vehicle for the trial, like with the CV9030N, but i believe the camouflage could be a little different.

Honestly there would be better vehicle for events for norway, this would just add more spam that this game doesn’t need

Yeah, but it’s an nice option for an event or premium vehicle, don’t know wich tree it would go at the moment tough.

No, for god sake no.
Add things that have been in active service, not more god damned «but it was on trial» vehicles in any TT

152mm TOWs?

So why is it listed as 127mm in Warthunder?

This vehicle is not in-game yet, so i believe it has changed between the models :)

(That said, it would OFC be added to usa first before anywhere else)

The Wiki claims they’re all 152mm though. Where does Gajin get 127mm from?

I guess they have their sources :) I see there are many variants of the TOW missile, also saw something regarding 127mm Javelins being used on the bradley
