This is largely conjecture, but it’s believable conjecture and more importantly contains something approaching an actual Ballpark Estimate Number (though IMO I would read this as a maximum of 1000-1200 RHAe for implementation purposes since it’s… laaargely better to be conservative with these sorts of estimates)
There might be a wrinkle around what information around russian shells was available to american tank designers at the time, so this might just be another trail that leads directly to ‘all the necessary information is classified’, but I think it’s a worthwhile approach

ah yes, just ignore all the sources that say the armor provides more protection
clearly they cant figure out that the action the devs need to take is improving the composite multiplier on the hull
