I try, I just need to control myself getting worked up with trolls sometimes. Explaining things to people when there’s a disconnect is difficult when they are rage baiting
I’m not taking sides here. I’m here to inform you what the rules are and what an actual SEPv3 is.
Both of you need to behave yourselves. It would also help if you didn’t use AI for your research without verification. It’s very flawed.
I only used .gov links minus the first from Army Technology. AI helped me summarize the statements within the documents. Either way, better than explaining what a generation of tanks means to this idiot. Apart from that I’ll edit the photo it stated improved armor but not how, I’m assuming this prototype photo I found is inaccurate as is. Either way my main concern is the APS Hard Kill Trophy system.
I’ll make the edits for corrections cause it’s already causing confusion
Tank generations are a widely debated topic, and I don’t bother using them to begin with, but regardless of if you think he’s wrong, you shouldn’t use ad hominem. It just makes you look like the bad guy, even if you’re factually correct.
I agree, my main goal is hoping Gajin gives the sepV3 in game with at minimum APS to combat the growing helicopter fire and forget missiles at top tier. Other than that I’m not worried about armor or ammo of the Abrams in game since it already performs well.
Just ask for the M1A2 SEPv2 Trophy. It’ll be leagues easier to obtain.

However, if you did get a SEPv2 Trophy, you would make the 12.7 Merkava 4M pointless, as it’s already struggling due to its poor protection values.
The problem is I couldn’t find sources about sepV2 trophy system. In fact, even looking for the recent buff it got for LWS is tough but hey it still got it. Also apart from the Merkava a lot of top tier tanks currently hold APS. If you find sources please share.
It’s Trophy HV, the same we have in the game.
ROSY is a German Smoke grenade system that comes with LWS. It does give it an LWS, but your smoke grenades also get buffed.
Outside of the Merkava 4M and T-72B3M, there aren’t many “top-tier” tanks that get Hardkill APS. IFVs aren’t tanks, nor can an APS on an IFV be compared to an APS on an MBT, so I will not count them.
As of current, there are only about 4 or so MBT at top tier with Hard Kill APS. Those being the VT4A1, Merkava Mk.4M, Black Night, and T-72B3M.
If you can think of more than that, please do so. Regardless, none of these tanks are meta. While the M1A2 is often called a “bad MBT”, I do not agree. The Abrams has exceptional turret protection, a great fire rate, and good mobility. When positioned and managed properly, it’s likely even the strongest tank in the game for long-range engagements thanks to the full kit it brings.
Maybe it’ll be easier to nuke this forum and use this at this point for sepv2
Oh I don’t think their META I just want to deter helicopter rockets to an extent at top tier. With all the CAS changes most top tier tanks need better defense against helicopter spammers.
There are only a handful of helicopters with LDIRCM, so most are actually pretty grounded right now.
I’m not against the US getting Trophy HV, but it would spiral into people asking for the Leopard 2a7V Trophy HV prototypes while also making the Merkavas even more irrelevant, as that’s their only selling point thanks to Gaijin’s treatment of them.

Top Tier balance will already likely be in question when the K2 comes to the game. It’s functionally just a Type 10 but better in nearly every way.
At this point USA and Germany should have them with most (even minor nations) having fire and forget missiles. Even worse when maps have mountains everywhere.
M1e3 is a looooooong way off
US army recently received M1E3 for testing so i think abrams would be replaced soon
Doesn’t matter closing this post tomorrow and advocating for APS on SEPv2. M1E3 isn’t the topic for this forum anyways neither is abrams x.
The US is a much bigger user than Germany of trophy. America not getting trophy would be dumb
War Thunder wise, it would be harder to get people to play other nations if USA and Germany have it. Personally, I only play USA or Sweden. Merkavas are super boring and it having APS wouldn’t be a good motivator for me but maybe others.
recieved the first actual M1E3 prototype last year. i hope the hybrid diesel is also more powerful, and they get a better gun
I feel the Merkava crew sitting lower and engine being in the front it’s survivability is very good hull down. Definitely not a brawler or flanker but urban envs it’s good.
The Merkava IVM is a better tank for long range engagement in War Thunder than the Abrams. It’s also a better brawler. I don’t understand why people are sleeping so much on the Merkava IVM when it’s factually a better tank than the SEP/SEPv2.
The Merkava IV armor might be all over the place but it does these things better than the Abrams:
-
Mobility with its superb reverse speed(-64kph vs -38kph) and forward mobility on par with the naked M1A2SEP. In fact, the Merkava IVM has better HP/T ratio than the SEP v.2 with Tusk/no mine protection.
-
Armor in hull down.(upper half of the turret armor is really tanky, capable of stopping even shots in the upper mantlet)
-
Side armor capable of surviving some autocannons where Abrams would die. Especially useful against the BMPT now.
-
Survivability(Merk IV damage model is so SO much better than the Abrams since they added the turret basket to the abrams, meaning you can brawl a lot easier with it)
-
Protected ammo in the rear hull means you’re not out of the fight if you get blowout paneled.
-
Frontal engine can tank some shots; it’s pretty random.
-
APS(Big against the amount of air launched ATGM)
-
LWS if not the SEP v2
-
Amount of smoke grenade to better survive helis/plane ATGM, especially felt when not playing the updated SEP v2.
-
IRST to target helicopters with time fuzed HE shell which is big.
-
Ability to rotate the turret 360° without deadzone. Being able to fire behind has saved me quite a few times.
Quite frankly, the M1A2 do only 3 noticeable things better than the Merkava IV. Depression(-10 vs -7), turret rotation speed(40° vs 34° sec) and smaller height, that’s it. All the rest, the Merkava IV is either so similar you don’t notice it or outright better.
