M1a2 sep v3

2 SEPv3s in a lineup is always better than 1.

Regardless. It was mostly to counter the point from the other guy that the SEPv3 having strong armor and APS would somehow make it overpowered against the 2A7/122 (which I heavily disagree with btw, SEPv3 is the best counterpart to these tanks that the US can get).

If Gaijin decides to model an actual Abrams correctly then its definitely going to be a counterpart, what i’m afraid of is they just copy-paste another garbage Abrams with a weaker turret ring and call it “New Abrams”

What? What ERA? Whats that? It gotta be broken if they add it to sep v3. Right? RIGHT?

“SEPv3 is needed for equality!!1!”

If the SEPv3 is needed to be equal, then we’re gonna need the 2A6A2, the T-72B2, and some other turn-of-the-century systems.

That’s not accurate. The M1A2 SEP v3 is a fully operational and widely fielded upgrade currently in service with the U.S. Army. In contrast, the T-14 Armata remains in limited production with no full-scale deployment, the KF-51 Panther is still a prototype, and the Black Eagle (Object 640) was only built as a prototype and never entered mass production or service.

I understand why they want this tank. But even if the LHD is strengthened, nothing will change, because a huge weak spot will remain.

I’d hope the SEPv3 is grounds to redesign it, then again it still won’t do much to deter modern penetrators.

Why are you guys still arguing in a suggestion thread, yall should make a new related thread to argue

Please, gaijin, the US is doing so horrible at 11.7 right now because of how badly the other m1s were done, this cannot possibly be screwed up AND would give the US a fighting chance against all the other significantly more modern mbts compared to the sepv2

Here is a link for all of the info on the program https://www.army-technology.com/projects/abrams-m1a2-sepv3-main-battle-tank/?cf-view&cf-click&cf-minimized&cf-view&cf-click&cf-minimized&cf-view

As said in the article “ In 2022, the Trophy active protection system (APS) was tested on the tank to ensure its continued fielding across the army.

General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) awarded a $280m indefinite delivery and indefinite quantity contract in July of the same year to supply Trophy ready kits in the form of APS for the M1A2 SEPv2 and M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks.

The work is expected to extend until mid-2027.

The Trophy APS can detect, classify and engage threats such as recoilless rifles, antitank guided missiles, rockets and rocket-propelled grenades.

Its ability to rapidly detect threats and their launch location enables the tank crew to address and neutralise targets effectively.”

So we need SEP-V2 with the Trophy system.

“We” don’t need anything. You’re the one that’s double negative in half of the Abrams model while struggling to stay above 1.0 in the others.

Real-World Context
• The M1147 Advanced Multi-Purpose (AMP) 120 mm round consolidates four legacy Abrams munitions (M830 HEAT, M830A1 MPAT, M1028 canister, M908 obstacle-reduction) into one programmable shell.
• Programmable fuze modes (point-detonate, point-detonate delay, airburst) are set via the tank’s fire-control system and data link—no manual fuze change needed.
• Entered low-rate initial production in December 2020, with full-rate production approved December 20, 2024 under JPEO A&A.

Comparable In-Game Ammunition

• 120 mm APFSDS – pure anti-tank, limited vs. infantry and soft targets
• 120 mm HE – good vs. fortifications and soft targets, poor armor penetration
• 120 mm Canister – devastating at close range, useless beyond 300 m
• No “programmable” options – you pick one ammo type before battle and stick with it

Mode Penetration Radius Reload Time
PD 480 mm RHA 0 m +1 s
PD-Delay 400 mm RHA 2 m (spread) +1 s
AB 200 mm RHA 15 m +1 s

Oh boy! So… Now instead of only carrying 12 830A1 I can carry 12 M1147 with the same mediocre filler amount (that’s still yet to be massively nerfed) that… Is insensitive to flash fires? Big whoop?

You’d have a better argument to make to me if you were simply talking about its armor and that beyond sexy turret cheek contour.

Are you okay?… sir
Honestly what is your problem you out here hating on everyone writing anything. You seem to look at everything like it is a sack of rotten tomatoes

Yeah?

Because it doesn’t add anything of substance. AMP is nothing but a rehashed MPAT that serves immense logistical purpose, but we aren’t here trying to kill insurgents through 2 layers of concrete while fixing the issue of ammo diversity.

Then tell me what you want, i want it because i think it’s cool but you seem to don’t want anything
What round do you want to the abrams except m829A3/4

I hope that in the next update Gaijin will still lead something new for the US on the ground forces.
