Recently I researched M1A1, it is a great vehicle, but after inspecting it’s turret armour and comparing to other M1 variances, I was left with a question: why does it has only 38 mm of steel plate, while others 101 mm? It is not really a big deal, but just wanted to know why it is like that.
It’s volumetric, the X-Ray does not reflect the actual armor values.
They just re did the armour model for it and it doesn’t seem to show the internal turret face on the x-ray mode currently (same with the SEP-V3 or SEP-V2 Trophy), it doesn’t seem to affect the actual protection though.
The armour values listed in the X-Ray view are purely cosmetic, they don’t hold any value to the actual protection of the tank.
To view the actual protection, go to the Armor Analysis Tool and select a appropriate round and impact angle to view the armour’s effectiveness.
