M1A1 and M1A2 Abrams has a relative short time to extinguish the engine fire. Often that is less than a second leaving the operator unable to extinguish at all. It’s not common but it’s not rare either.
Its a bit randomised, same as every other tank, those can burn out within a second as well
The engine compartment is separated from the crew area and it has its own automatic fire-detection and suppression system which supposedly reacts in milliseconds. Within a second is probably too short of a delay for a separated engine compartment.
