History
Humvee in the Greek Army
The first Humvee were acquired by the Greek Army in 2000 in a 3,200,000,000 drachmas program. The contract included 42 M1025A2 equipped with anti-tank systems MILAN and 28 M1097A2 for the needs of the Special Forces and the 116th A / M Squadron of Pedian Artillery (116 A / M BP) belonging to the 71st Airborne Brigade (71st A / M TAX «Pontus »).In August 2002, a contract was signed for the supply 98 + 98 M1114GR operating as anti-tank carriers Kornet-E, in July 2005 a contract was signed for the market 40 M118GR as bodies of BOR-A550 surveillance radar and 20 M118GR as carriers of Margot XXL electric sensors. Finally, in March 2006 a contract was signed for the market 165 M115, 70 M116GR, 6 M117GR and 60 M119GR. Thus, all HMMWVs in service to the ES, in all versions it amounts to 681 vehicles.
The M114GR
The Greek Army ordered 98 M1025A2 vehicles (with an option for a further 98) in 2002, under a program involving the Greek company ELBO. All vehicles receiving the Russian missile system are being uparmoured with Israel-made composite armor kits produced by Plasan SASA. The KBP 9P163-2 launcher unit is installed in the roof of the HMMWV, and includes the 1P45-1 sighting and guidance unit, 1PN79-1 night sight and electronics module, and operator’s position. The optronics are protected by a light ballistic cover. The launcher weighs 60kg, and carries four ready-to-fire 9M133 missiles, two mounted on either side of the launcher. The latter can be traversed through 180° in azimuth, and from -10° to +15° in elevation. A further five missiles are stored inside the vehicle, which has a crew of two or three.
Kornet-E in Greek service and general history
Kornet-E is an export version of the Russian Kornet man-portable anti-tank missile system (ATGM). Greece has 196 launchers with 1100+ missiles, in service as of 2008. First shown in 1994, the system was developed by the KBP Instrument Design Making Bureau, Tula, Russia, and is in production and service with the Russian Army. The missile has been exported to Syria, Jordan, the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, India, Morocco, Algeria and Greece. Kornet is a third-generation system, developed to replace the Fagot and Konkurs missile systems in the Russian Army. The Kornet missiles with tandem shaped charge HEAT warheads are defeat tanks fitted with ERA or with high explosive/incendiary (thermobaric effect) warheads, for use against bunkers, fortifications and fire emplacements. Armor penetration for the HEAT warhead is stated to be 1,200mm. Range is 5km.The missile has semi-automatic command-to-line-of-sight (SACLOS) laser beam riding guidance, flying along the line of sight to engage the target head on in a direct attack profile and also can target low flying helicopters.
Firepower
The M1114GR have as the main armament the missile KORNET-E that’s an export variant of the Kornet we already have in game, Kornet-E has a tandem warhead with 1200 mm of pen and 320 m/s max speed, the M1114GR has in the cabin 8 missiles easy to use, 2 on top of the vehicle and one in the launcher to use with a total ammo of 11 missiles.
Protection
Armor: STANAG 4569 Level 2
Ballistic and Blast Specifications
- Kinetic Energy Threat : The primary threat is the 7.62×39 mm API BZ round, requiring the armor to prevent penetration and limit backface deformation across all-around surfaces, including oblique impacts up to 30 degrees elevation.
- Blast Threat : The vehicle must survive a 6 kg TNT equivalent mine detonated under any wheel, track, or at the hull center with a 0.1-meter standoff distance.
- Artillery Fragments : Protection includes resistance to 20 mm Fragment Simulating Projectiles (FSP) traveling at 630 m/s (burst range 80 m) and 12.7 mm FSP at 420 m/s .
- Survivability Criteria : Blast testing focuses on occupant protection, limiting vertical acceleration to avoid spinal/head injuries and preventing incapacitating internal spall from hull deformation
Mobility
Mobility: 190hp, 105km/h
