The basket should simply not spall imo. It’s a wire mesh no more than 2mm thick, it will be vaporised by the APFSDS/heat jet instead of spalling.
Gaijin also gives thin steel plates no spall modifiers usually, but somehow here we’ve got an exception (well duh, it nerfs the two most popular MBT models).
I also noticed that, not just with these two tanks. Its across the board. Some light vehicles simply don’t spall. Others with equally thin armor spall like its a full armor array with lotsa material spalling out.
The craziest example is likely the FlarakRad container. Its 5mm contructional steel, a dart should just pass through that. But ingame it spalls like crazy. In an extent that you’d ask where all the material is coming from…cause its just 5mm…
Also the rather thin side armor plates at Leopard and Abrams tanks spall far too much imho. It looks a bit strange how much material is spalling out of these thin plates.
As 141 allen said auto-loader could create spall but it also block the spall it creates . not to mention ammo that could also eat spall
All i’m asking is that Turret basket and auto-loader should be treat the same
Yep Turret basket and auto-loader should be treat the same way. But as we’ve seen Turret basket was likely to create more spall.
IIRC Gaijin model whole turret baskets as turret drive. So community request that they should separate them from turret ring. So gaijin remodel them into new one we have . Not that we ask them to make turret baskets unable to block spall and still create more spall.
Yes but irl ammo propellant getting hit it would be lethal / catastrophic kill 99% of time.
All i’m asking Gaijin is that if auto-loader + ammo can get hit but still could block spall then turret basket should also do the same.
Make it fair .
There are parts that aren’t even metal, namely the nylon mesh on some of the Leopard’s basket that somehow spall like RHA or the plastic revisors on the M1.
I was not aware that fabric and plastic bottles could generate lethal spall.
or SEP or SEP V2 for balance
or just buff the hull of M1 to like 500mm ke something
AIM for sure have 500+mm ke hull
SEP and SEP V2 likely has it if not more
SEP V3 definitely does
M1A1 hull should be marginally better than M1 hull by like 50mm KE
they should just buff HC and on hull armor as there is evidence to suggest there were changes to the arrays. And iirc further improvements in SEP or SEPv2
Well we can’t just do that to change the standards, be it Gaijin’s performance changes all the time, we ourselves must try to keep it consistent.
IDK where these come from.
Not necessarily anything to do with KE though. After all, unless with direct papers on the values, the equivalence of Composite is 100% on Gaijin / their balance. VT5 sits with 300mm of Composite and can’t block 30mm rounds.
It is not the same method. If the hit is on the neck of the turret from the front, the turret will be disabled. But from the side, if the neck or turret is not hit from the side, it will not be disabled, especially if the driver is the one take the hit
No it’s not, there was no DU hull armor added to it, it is simply not heavy enough. And if the Americans had mounted DU there, they would have told us just like they did with the turret armor.
The HC armor upgrade was a CE improvement bringing the front turret back up to 2x weight efficiency. The early HA armor had relatively bad CE protection for the weight but for A2 they asked the Brits to help them improve it, this improved Chobham was mounted in the new HC tanks and subsequently incorporated in later M1A1 improvement programs like AIM.
The HA isn’t present in the game but as a solution for DU to be present in a single tank in the US tech tree people suggested that HC would be a great option, i did not state that HC did get DU but it would be suitable for it to have it.
5 Tanks having DU is a more than enough evidence for Gaijoob to add it in a single tank, but that would make people to use the HC more often and it would be a better option than the currect TOP TIER US Ground Tanks that suck.
Other issue, Gaijin wants to still sell click bait, and if that is the case, US can receive another tank which is quite strong, helping the sale cause more people would be encouraged to start grinding US. Maybe they could add HA as event vehicle though, so might save it for later.
