guys i have doubt when leopard 2a4 is 55 t and m1 is 55t and leo 2a7 is 64 t and gains significant amount of front armor like 250 mm of comp screens and m1a2 sepvs gains same amount of weight but gains no front armor how is it possible

the front turret armor gets way better, they change guns, and add a bunch of ERA you cant take off as well as other electronics, FCS, and optic enhancements. It also has a CROWS turret which ironically hurts your survivability
Leopard 2a7 is just a 2a4 with extra composite screens in its front and on its turret and its dimensions is way bigger than Abram’s and we see Abrams didn’t change that much outside but weight as significantly changed so metal density is more therefore the front armor protection should also increase
