Welcome to another decal suggestion, this time featuring the low-visibility insignia of the Slovenian Ground Forces.
It would be great to see the Slovenian Army represented in War Thunder through this distinctive military emblem.
The Slovenian Ground Forces trace their origins to the Territorial Defense of Slovenia (TORS), a paramilitary organization established in 1969 to support the Yugoslav National Army (JNA) in the event of a NATO or Warsaw Pact invasion, with a primary focus on guerrilla warfare. During Slovenia’s War of Independence in 1991, TORS units and the Slovenian police formed the backbone of the country’s defense, engaging the JNA throughout the Ten-Day War. In 1993, the force was formally reorganized as the Slovenian Ground Forces under the newly established Slovenian Armed Forces.
A colored version of this insignia was used between 1991 and 1995, appearing on the front glacis plate or on the hull and turret sides of armored vehicles. In 1996, a subdued, low-visibility version with a black outline was introduced to improve camouflage. From 1991 to 1995, the same emblem—without the crossed swords—also served as the insignia of the Slovenian Air Force before the adoption of its current roundel.
Symbolism
Three-Peaked Mountain
The upper portion of the emblem depicts three stylized peaks representing Mount Triglav, Slovenia’s highest mountain and the country’s most recognizable national symbol.
Tricolor Shield
The shield features subdued white, blue, and red horizontal stripes derived from the historical Duchy of Carniola. It represents the armed forces’ commitment to defending Slovenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Crossed Swords (in saltire)
The pair of crossed swords behind the shield symbolizes the strength, readiness, reliability, and determination of the Slovenian Army.
