Looking for friends :(

My experience on war thunder has been fantastic All around so far but it really has lacked one big thing. Friends. I cannot for the life of me find anyone to play this game with :( I am fairly new to the game but have been researching game mechanics often and I have been getting better everyday. I was asked to join a squadron but after a couple weeks I have noticed that no one ever seems to want to play together. My question to the war thunder community is this. Would anyone like to play this game together some time? I genuinely enjoy every part of this game and would even be willing to learn naval battles. I just want to experience this game and its community.

Yea, that’s common in normal open recruitment squadrons.

What I’d suggest is asking in matches where you are playing what you find to be your favorite vehicle, and asking in those matches to see if anyone wants to squad up.

Especially the auto-squadie that you get allocated, or people using the same vehicle.

People usually demand discord, but really, it’s not actually needed, people just rely on that as a gatekeep much of the time.

Thank you so much for your help! I will definitely try this out I was just so confused on what squadrons were and how to find people or groups.

Most of us really use our friendslist once it gets populated, as squadrons are more for the squadron battles and the squadron vehicles grind.

Squads of 4 are the way to run, and even making a chat channel in the main chats to bring attention to yourself stating what the BR/Vehicles you want to play and what mode should bring some in.

It really helps to be chill and put yourself out there in the chat. The ones that respond are generally the ones you want to be.

I started playing the game a couple years ago didn’t get far and have recently come back to it. I feel the same way, its very difficult to find someone to play with and I would be interested in playing together!

This works sometimes… but some people are so toxic that it really discourage you trying

Yeah, people can be a**hats sometimes. I recommend just ignoring them and going on with your business. I also heavily recommend to anyone who is looking for friends to join a squadron. You can post about it here. I also recommend playing ARB. Most games there are at least one person who’ll talk in chat. And more often than not, there will be multiple people and they’ll all end up goofing around. I’ve found about a dozen people to play with at almost any time through ARB alone. All of them friendly and funny

After many years in this community, you come to realize that Squadrons often function more as a free Squad Experience (Green vehicles XP) farming opportunity.

I have some long-standing friends in BRD. Sadly, some have passed away, while others are now working abroad. As a result, I only play regularly with two or three of them. However, there’s usually some chat going on, primarily because I initiate it. You could try fostering similar interactions within your own squad.

It’s challenging to find many people to squad up with on a daily basis, as the community is widespread and thinly distributed

Add me on the friend list, Im online almost everyday and I basically play everything but Arcade games.

Furthermore, you’ll make friends in the game with whom you’ll sometimes play, even when not in the same squad. These are people you might have spoken French with in GRB or Russian with in AirSIM during late-night gaming sessions, or even just had pingged then asking if their vehicle is good.

The key point is that, in most cases, you’ll need to be the one to initiate these interactions.
