Longer range, longer duration Ground maps

Not sure how ending the CQC nonsense on Sands of Sinai is a bad thing…

I miss people sniping from the hill on the right side of the map tbh

People go up the hill are easy kill from deserts side just use sand dunes or rocks as covers and wait thanks to Gaijin’s incompetent they just remove my feeding ground

That is way too much for GRB, since no one wants to drive for 10 minutes only to be killed by someone they couldn’t see. The largest WT maps are about as large as they should be to avoid situations such as that.

Longer games are both good and bad, but it is hard to make longer games when most people don’t spawn more than once, and that ticket bleed it quite short.

That is an issue I see exclusively on maps with longer engagement ranges.

Larger maps are bad in many cases since stock tanks exist, and there is lots of disparity between nations at lower BRs (also that Gajin sucks at designing them). Who wants to play a long range map against rank IV Germay?

The removal of the hill on Sinai made the rest of the map more usable since you would no longer be vulnerable whenever you were anywhere that wasn’t behind a rock.

you mean the ones that are barely in rotation, and sands of sinai isn’t even that big let alone like actually good in terms of map design.

like for short 15 minute matches yeah but I much rather have games that go for like an hour and we play entirely for that hour than a 15-20 minute match that ended 7 minutes in.

like yeah 30kms is pushing it but atleast like 10-15 kms.

Air people do that all the time that they will fly for 5-10 minutes to get BVR’d. I say like 20-30kms is pushing it but like I would like maps that aren’t like the length of 5-6 city blocks and told “this is where 16v16” or whatever size will fight.

in relation “you can see into enemy spawns” like Euro province has that problem but theres alot like fewer. That is just they need to add something that looks like 38th parallel that is like FOBs like real life do, which is physical barricades to stop people from just shooting at a team and spawn camping.

Yeah, and it’s kinda boring. At least at most BRs you can very easily see threats before they arrive so you have time to prepare.

How would the gameplay loop/general gameplay work on a super large map, like 8x8 KM?

Spawns just need more protection in general.

I mean with Air its another problem, if they worked in the EC gamemode, add like maybe AWACS-esk effects, and more objectives and made the gamemode more interactive and more like a contested air space more than just a “air brawl with sandbox aspects” like side objectives. I know I don’t speak for everyone I like playing a F16C for both ground striking and air fighting…but then again I watch DCS videos, which WT isn’t trying to be like DCS, people dont want a sim.

Sounds fun to me might be not for those casuals so i can finally taste experience realistic combat if that ever happen
the real fun of top tier are killing something two kilometers away or more even feel challenging try to hit moving target at that distance (old big European province are the best experience top tier for me now they’re gone)

they wont understand that people who play “realistic” want a taste of realistic.

They should throw that shtty arcade map into arcade mode since it a gamemode for it not into realistic and make it arcade 2.0

But how would massive maps work? Would people just find OP spots and camp the whole game? Will you be driving for a while before you engage with someone? Gaijin shouldn’t add potentially terrible maps just because a few people want them.

Plus, long range combat with LRFs is quite point and click.

Ofc people with better map knowledge will have more advantages against normie that how it should be

Gladly i want realistic gameplay for realistic gamemode it was RB stand for

There is a difference between having map knowledge, and beelining towards a camping spot that overlooks half the map. OP/spawncamping spots are bad, and should never exist.

Thank god most people aren’t game designers. Do you realize how bad that would be? It would be awful since you wouldn’t be doing anything for several minutes, and it’s just wasted time.

I would like more maps with long range engagements, but history says most ww2 tank opening engagements on the Western Front were at 800m or less (a little farther on the Eastern Front)
Considering I rarely engage tanks farther than 400m at the BRs I play (6.7-8.0 for now) I feel we could use some longer range oriented maps thrown into the mix more often.

I feel like I’m always driving to the action for several minutes anyways on these smaller maps, so what’s the difference? Drive the same amount of time, but fight at longer ranges? Drive a little longer and engage at the same distances as on these smaller maps?
What Gaijin should be doing is making maps that have both long range and close range combat areas, and not separating those areas into “Big Map” and “Small Map”

Well that why game developers have map designers for it.
If the map designers are competent one they can find the way to overcome these issue. (Something Gaijin doesn’t have)

People who seek realistic experience would be overjoyed

Welcome to realistic combat experience when it not a place for casual players if they want it here an Arcade mode for it they can go play there if they want arcade style why even bother play realistic battle if they don’t want realistic?

Go to sim if you want gameplay that’s hyperrealistic. Don’t ruin RB because of it. I don’t like arcade due to the markers, aim marker, and the non realistic tank performance, so there is no way I would play it a ton.

If they had their way maps would be ultra small CQC boxes
