Loitering Munitions - General Discussion

they cant be easily shot down though, similar size but much faster than the current drones, and more controllable making it easier to fly low and use terrain to mask

and not low damage the 600s warhead is supposed to be similar to a hellfire

also the 300s would still one shot light stuff like AA

there is some eldritch horrors this games balancing will face in the coming year, infantry AND gen 5 jets.

Im glad my favourite tanks all sit around thr 6.7-9.3 BR so ill avoid this stuff a lot of the time, unless they really screw it up

judging by its weight and layout, i have my doubts
it may be more similar to the TOW-2/2A

its lighter yes, but almost the same diameter, which is what in game HEAT warhead damage is based on

also its propulsion is much more efficient than the solid rocket of the hellfire due to lower speed and overall method

according to ODIN the s570 has 60mm of pen and seems to have an HE warhead

Even low power they will still cut through the engine deck, probably starting fires. Even if they don’t run you out of FPE and burn you down getting multiple back to back repair timers is not my idea of fun.

I mean you’ll probably be able to shoot them down with 50 cals so that’s a bit less of an issue

60mm of pen from an HE warhead is very unlikely, it is most likely an HE-DP warhead

Would ALARM count as a loitering weapon I wonder… Hmm… (at least in the spirit of the term, if not the intended context)

Not too sure… I don’t think so

Sounds legit. Ground Rb gaming expierience would greatly improve. Like swarms of loitering AI drones circling above the the map, taking out everything :)

I would not expect them to be any easier, and likely a lot harder, to hit than a scout drone and you know what those are like

Thats why HE-VT, HE-Fuse and AHEAD ammunitions exists. At this point, almost all nations have these ammunitions.
Also high fire-rate autocannons will have no problems to destroy drones even if they are tiny, well actually not very tiny, most HEAT warhead drones are way bigger than the UAV in game. The little ones are only like 8kg of TNT with HE only, so can’t damage tanks.

Well scout drones also don’t have explosive warheads in them and are a lot flatter soooo

I remember during Warfare 2077, the first-person guided missiles (like a kamikaze drone) were so hard to guide. Now with tanks with ERA and addon anti-drone armour its gonna be way more harder to hit critical and exposed parts of a tank, even if it doesn’t move.

Of course I doesn’t expect it to be in Ground RB, I would like to see them in a bigger gamemode with way bigger ground maps with sim gamemode, way harder to control a drone.

Not everybody has those, let alone on MBTs to protect themselves.

even ZSU-23-4s struggle to hit scout drones

What? a T-72 HE shell is 5kg and can cave in the roof of any tank in the game and it’s not top attack.

explosive don’t magically attract bullets. scout drones don’t survive hits, they don’t get hit.

Which makes them larger targets from below, where they are still near impossible to hit.

Kamikaze drones are way bigger than the scout drone, because of the warhead and engine. An UAV its like 60 cm long, and a kamikaze drone can go to like 2 m or even the size of a UCAV (8 m).

Im sorry, I meant 0.5kg - 4kg max. 8kg was the total weight of the drone, not the warhead.

The ones that are really a problem are those little ones with a rpg attached like we saw in the trailer. For me they shouldn’t add such small kamikaze drones.
