caid’s suggestion #205
i would like to suggest an interesting vehicle for France, the LOHR RPX 6000 Dragar
the RPX 6000 was a light armored car developed by LOHR. member of a large family of reconnaissance and patrol vehicles, it could also carry a light ATGM turret to give them anti-tank capacity. The RPX 6000 was the main wheeled vehicle offered by LOHR with the hope to make themselves a name in the international market, the RPX 6000 revealed in 1981 was aiming for the VBL’s market. Offering high mobility and being lightweight, it can be used on all terrains. the version we propose here is the Dragar. It is mounting the Dragar turret which features a 25mm M811. This version offers greater versatility as reconnaissance and support vehicles. ideal for escort and patrol but also urban combat and can provide the infantry and MBT the support it might need against targets such as the infantry, light vehicles, and helicopters.
Sadly, no LOHR vehicles were ever exported. Despite offering a large selection of interesting vehicles, the concurrence from Panhard, Renault, Alvis, and Engesa made LOHR unable to secure any contract.
Firepower
the main armament was a GIAT 25mm M811, which would be more than good enough to engage the armored target. capable of using AP. SAPHE and APDS. more rounds were available later but because the vehicle wasn’t on the market by that time, it would be unfair to give those newer rounds. The armament is an auto-cannon with an adjustable fire rate of either 120 rounds/minute or 400 rounds/minute. the M811 is a dual feed cannon with 220 rounds belt ready to use (175 rounds on belt #1, 45 rounds on belt #2). the gun can switch between 2 types of rounds without the need to reload, they need to switch belts. the elevation reaches -7°/+45°, making it great against air vehicles. furthermore, the turret is electrically powered making it fast to rotate and the gun fast to elevate. the rotation and elevation speed of 60°/sec will make it great in urban combat and capable of fallow aircraft. to improve the vehicle’s combat capacity in the movement, the gun is also two-plane stabilized which is a huge advantage in combat.
day/night vision sight is also installed have a 1x/7x sight, Fire control integrates a laser Rangefinder and Infrared.
a **coaxial 7.62mm ** is installed with a 200-round magazine and 200 more stored inside the turret.
while the turret already has enough ammunition to be enjoyable to play with, more ammo could be carried inside the hull without difficulty, only the actual number of ammunition is unknown. The ammo load includes 220 rounds for the 25mm ready-to-use
Mobility
the weight of this variant of the RPX 6000 is about 6.5 tonnes. which makes It a heavy variant of the RPX 6000, but this remains a fairly light vehicle. the engine providing 180 hp still gives it a very high power for its weight. capable of reaching 110 km/h on read, it would feel extremely fast. the power/weight of 27.69 hp/ton will give it an excellent acceleration.
Protection
the RPX 6000 is not a vehicles design to take a beating. the chassis only has minimal protection against small arms, the turret has a bit more protection but remains lightly protected. the turret can normally take HMG fire at a decent distance without ease but as soon you get close to 500m, there is a risk to let the hit penetrate it. the turret is a one-man crew which makes the total crew to 2 men for the entire vehicle. this makes it rather unforgiving. the vehicle is small and mobile which is his best chance to survive. there is also smoke launcher to help cover the maneuver in the battlefield.
