Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor

Hello, I’d like to re-introduce and suggest the Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor for the US aviation tech tree. As the first all-weather stealth fighter in US Air Force service, it combines stealth, supercruise, supermaneuverability, and integrated avionics with first-look, first-kill capability against multiple targets. This legendary aircraft was developed after the successful YF-22 prototype from the Advanced Tactical Fighter program in the 1980s-1990s.

Key Characteristics

  • 5th-generation stealth air superiority fighter
  • Twin Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100 turbofan engines
  • Supercruise capable (supersonic without afterburner)
  • 2D thrust vectoring for extreme maneuverability
  • AN/APG-77(V)1 AESA radar system
  • Carries AIM-9X and AIM-120D missiles internally
  • 20mm M61A2 Vulcan internal cannon

Conclusion | Why it should be in the game

The F-22A’s addition as a fifth-gen fighter seems inevitable once most fourth-gen aircraft are in the game. It would give us a compelling opportunity to utilize stealth mechanics in air battles, making the F-22A an incredible top-tier asset for the US tech tree.

Yes I want to see this ingame but not now. Maybe in two or three years but not now.

Can’t wait to see it in 2028 lol

Sure, but it’s too early. Maybe in a couple of years.

Only if it goes straight to 3.7. It definitely can’t compete with the fearsome Me-262 or the legendary Mach 5 capable MiG-9.

+1 when the time comes

Too Early.

Only after all the 4th gen aircraft have been added. I don’t think Gaijin is quite ready to be modeling stealth, and there are plenty more 4th generation aircraft to add.

cries in no HMD

does this picture show stealthy weapons carriers mounted on the wings?
what are these for?
AMRAAMs?

Gonna leave it here:

Either Infrared search and track or electronic warfare system in pods with stealth shape.

sadly thats a smooth back. F-22 pilots have long complained about HMD.
this one is just a helmet

EDIT: clarification i meant an HMD that can make use of the HOBS 9X capability

Unfortunately, that helmet was only tested for the evaluations and didn’t pass without the official results. Not only that, they also complained about the legacy helmets being too heavy and straining on their necks.

There is a new lightweight next-gen helmet in development and tested by the F-22 Pilots. Still, the new helmet does not come with the JHMCS configuration, and there are no plans to include the JHMCS attachments in the new helmet. Here are recent images with the F-22 pilots and possible helmet configurations:

yeah they were testing something for the 22 but i have a hunch theyre gonna say muh duh budget and retire the old flagship

They already approved the budget for the Raptor upgrades, and they can’t retire it until NGAD begins proliferation. Same reason F-15Cs are still a thing

Well, i heard something on the contrary…
The US is nearly on the verge of retiring the raptor and will focus its stealth fleet on the 35 and the new stealth bomber (i forgot the name).
Upon its retirement, the UK is going to purchase the 22 and refurbish it (far fetched as it seems they wont be getting any more than 40 airframes of which there are 32 max which are flight worthy)

Lmao, where did you read that? Eurasian times? Russia today?

no a UK source

Are those public or spicy docs? Or did you make them up? They have the restricted on them but I feel like that would be harder to acquire lol. They don’t look too official.

Those are from the 90s/early 2000s, while britain was looking for options outside of the ever-delayed Eurofighter program, and before the F-22 was banned from export by congress if i recall correctly. It has nothing to do with any current plans.
