Lockheed Martin - F-16C PoBIT: Viper gets new fangs

this better get pids + maws

@tripod2008 have any of the upgraded american f-16s been spotted with pids +

IIRC only Ukrainian F-16 have PIDS

Unsure if they’ve been upgraded yet but PIDS has been in use with the Air National Guard F-16’s for some time now.

This is from the Vermont Air Nation Guard 134th Fighter Squadron, The Green Mountain Boys.

Non-upgrade ones can then upgraded ones also can I guess

Since Gaijin introduced BOL for and only for F-15C Golden Eagle in that update.

I suppose PoBIT will be a chance for USAF F-16 to get Smart Pylons too, but not very likely for the now 13.7BR CCIP Block50

+1. I don’t remember the last time I saw F-16 on 14.3. And the last time I personally played it.

+1, been hoping for this for a long time!

Probably would be 14.0 tbh

wouldn’t it carry 8 missiles total

For air to air, it’s a max of 6.

Unless Gaijin adds fake pylons like they already did with others jets

No the F-16’s have a max of 6 air to air missiles. If we ever see the triple mount outside of promo images then it could but as of right now only 6.

given that the triple pylon is still more real than multiple other pylons currently in game, we could still get it

Which other pylons? Dual R-77 for the Flankers? Dual AMRAAM racks for the Typhoons? Both of those are far more real than the triple rack is for the F-16’s.

The dual R-77 belly racks come from the Su-35 but Gaijin argued that since they did exist and that it was technically possible the other Flankers could use it then they added it.

The dual AMRAAM racks for the Typhoons were added because they were seen as a loadout option in an actual Eurofighter sim and also supported by the technical possibility of carrying AMRAAMs on the twin racks instead of SRAAMs.

The triple rack has only been seen in a promo image for the F-16V. Turkey did also put an order in for them as part of their order for Block 70/72 conversion kits for their existing fleet but that deal has since been cancelled and nothing else has been seen about the triple racks. The other racks are far more real than the triple rack.

I’ve been waiting for the F-16C PoBIT for ages. Hopefully they go with the Block 50 so we still get the GE-129 engine.

One thing I will note is that the USAF and USANG are upgrading Block 40/42/50/52s with Thales Scorpion HMD. So hopefully Gaijin adds it with that in order to differentiate it from the Block 70/72s that should come alongside it.

https://www.thalesdsi.com/2025/05/05/us-air-force-awards-nspa-f-16-hmd-contract-for-thales-scorpion-hmd/

IIRC Scorpion is formerly used on A-10C and Raptors.
Is that the same one you’re referring to?
What advantage does it provide compared with JHMCS/JHMCS2?
Different tracking sensors?

It’s the same HMD used by the A-10C and Rafale.

Gaijin recently updated the Rafale’s HMD, so there’s a chance the PoBIT would come with its own version of Scorpion. It’s a similar story with the F/A-18s getting their own version of JHMCS. But at the very least the F-16C PoBIT should end up with the A-10C’s HMD, which would give it IFF DL – I’m just hoping they update it to be unique and have more features.

In game, both JHMCS and Scorpion are missing quite a few upgrades like IFF DL and radar lock symbology. Both Scorpion and JHMCS should have that in game, but they either have one, are missing another, or are lacking some features entirely.

Here’s an example image from Thales

Same with European F-16AM btw
