prob shot the bomb it carried.
Fuel tank explosion can happen but I don’t think they actually have a “blast radius”

Yeah bombs exploding cause proxy damage again. Tends to make the air. assault games more expensive until you learn to stop shooting up close.

I don’t think “realism” involves bomb being made of pure nitroglicerine and detonating from any semblance to the concept of “bullet”
(I hate this mechanic so much, or at least how lazily it was added)

pretty sure they shouldnt explode at all
unless its API-T it wouldnt detonate filler
its possible that an unlucky hit from a decent sized SAP-HE could but a .50 cal API-T one shotting every single piece of ordinance on planes is stupid. (.50 cal incendiary is overperforming significantly with late belts either way, its infuriating to see a 12mm outperform 25mm guns)

oh yeah .50 cals are way overperforming
seeing a 30mm MK108 crit a P-51 then watching the P-51 onetap me with .50 cal is top 10 most triggering things ive seen
USA is my secondary nation (I love the sheridan as its the Scimitars obese american cousin with a dirty big HEAT shell) and it doesnt even feel rewarding one shotting people with tracer belts in comparison to using hispano or aden guns. They are overpowered in a way that just doesnt reward the player having good shooting, they just fall apart from a round that most planes ought to shrug off a good load of.

As a side note (in case you look for other ways for deaths due to plain stupid game mechanics):
Since a few weeks I even avoid using bombs vs vehicle columns - i got 2 times killed (within 4 or 5 matches 😂) whilst trying to bomb such columns - on the “Uranus” map and the large Kursk map.
A Hellcat and a B7A2 were shot down by aaa cars (standard ones, classic low BR aaa trucks) and both aircraft exploded a split second after bomb release (1,000 lbs F6F, 60 kg B7A2).
Whilst the first death looked like a rare event (shit happens - less than 2 minutes played) - after watching both replays it looks like the aaa sniped those bombs not by accident.

I got beamed by a “howitzer” AI at 7km way back. “WTF” is a very common reaction after I get Gaijin’d

Sad I deleted the clip, had an AA shoot my rocket as I launched it and it killed me and crew locked me 😭
