the torp tube will not train through the stern as it hits the flag staff
the funniest bit is they modelled the hinge that allows them to drop it so it can train properly without stopping
you have to laugh at some of the efforts
The majority of ships/boats in game have a raised Jackstaff/flagstaff that irl would get blown apart the moment weapons were fired, or as per L’Intrepide would inhibit proper weapons use.
You would think it would be obvious to the model designers that having a several metre long pole at each end of a ship in direct line of gunfire wouldn’t be a good thing, especially when the folding mechanism and hold-down points are present.
…however this is Gaijin we are taking about!
but then you cant have a cool flag so its a tough choice
There’s always the real life option of hanging Battle Flags off the main mast.
happens on some boats already
Which only goes to demonstrate theat it can be done properly instead of the current nonsense.
However, there are mast flags on vessels that still have the jackstaffs raised, which rather defeats the point.
