is afterburner limited or i had a bad experience with t2 and f1
i mean, t2 was the first supersonic jet I flew, nd it has unlimited afterburner as long as you can press shift
“WEP” can be a few different things. It can be afterburner, in which case it just increased your fuel burn by about 600-700%. So its a fuel management issue rather than limited amount. But some aircraft like the Harriers it’s actually water injection and so is limited by the amount of water in the tank. Giving you a time limited amount of WEP.
In arcade there is some limit on AB or something, but im not really sure as I never play that mode
i am new to jets, but t2 was awesome to fly, then I flew starfighter nd it was bad… even subsonic could catch up to it… and all the u tube videos I saw where they were wooshing around the map with always there afterburn on left me so confuse ;-( nd thnk u 4 ur reply :-)
They shouldnt have been able to. Make sure you arent accidentally deploying your airbrakes. That would slow you right down.
:-D I am that much of a bimbo but yes even with no airbrks it was not fast :-(
nd there is this video of DEFYN in which he just uses afterburner in the whole match…
i thought maybe I was doing something wrong
If you use the tool known as “Warthunder Real Time Information” (WTRTI as it’s often referred to), you can get a real-time readout on your WEP. If you don’t want to deal with overlay tools (it’s safe, all it does is read localhost:8111 and display selected values over the game screen. Same can be achieved with dual monitors anda web browser), simply take your plane into a test-flight and type " localhost:8111 " into your browser, although iirc it’s harder to find there.

Are you playing Arcade?
yes
Its likely Defyn is playing Realistic battles where there is no limit on Afterburners because you have a finite amount of fuel. I think in Arcade, as you dont have a limit on fuel, they instead impose a limit on the amount of Afterburner you have and it has a cooldown period. I recall from the last time I played Arcade Air Assaults in the Tornado, being annoyed that I couldnt sit at full afterburner all the time like I nomrally could in RB or SB.
hmmm intresting
AB does have a fuel limit and fuel load does still affect performance, so partial fuel is usually taken.
There’s no overheating in AB, which is not a problem in many planes, but a significant one in others.
But I suspect the main reason for limited AB in AB (sic) is that all a/c already have a performance buff.
so its a game mod thing… nd there is fuel limit in arcde 2… maybe chngng mods will help, cz I remnbr test flying in the realist mod, but with the same result
Ah… Last time I played arcade was years and years ago and I dont recall having to ever worry about fuel load. So it must have changed since then (but I was also in early props and not jets)
i will chnge the mod thn :-) thnk u
In arcade, the WEB can only be enable temporarily and then go into a cool down, and then will be able to used again, a bit like those RPG games where you have a cool down after using a perk, once the cool down ends you can use the perk again.
In realistic battle, it depends on different plane and engine.
In props:
Most engines have infinite amount of WEB, for those engine, the main factor limiting how frequent they engage web is the overheating on the engine, some engines have really bad thermals and overheat very quickly, limiting how much WEB they can use, like Bf109F4/G2.
Some props, mainly late American props and german props have limited WEB. because the engines are injected with different substances when engaged WEB, like people already pointed out, there are water injected (For example P51H). Germans also have Nitrous oxide injected WEB. But this doesn’t really make a difference apart from how long of the WEB you will have.
For example, I am using real time information (WTRTI), on P51H, the WEB time is 8 min 34 s
On Fw190D9 is 30 min
On Ta152H is 60 min.
In jets:
Most jets WEB come in form of afterburner (Like T2 and F104), when afterburner is engaged, the fuel burn is much much higher, so the fuel management becomes important. A easy way to save fuel on afterburner is only use half afterburner, so you only push the throttle to 105% instead of 110%, by doing this you save much more fuel, while having similar thrust (a bit less than 110%). Most jets don’t really overheats, however there are some jets will eventually overheat the engine on afterburner, like Lim5p and MiG19, but it can be negated by going to higher altitude.
As some people pointed out that on harrier it’s web is water injected, I don’t have harrier but I would assume it works the same as on the limited-WEB props.
Some jets can push the throttle over 100%, but they don’t have a afterburner, neither is water injected, so their WEB is not limited, however it overheats the engine quickly so is needed to lay off, for example, MiG9’s and Yak30D’s WEB works like this.
If you want to use the full potential of starfighter or T2, is best to play them in realistic battles, on arcade these jets don’t really have much to play. Bring your starfighter to realistic battles and apply what DEFYN said in the video. Noted all F104s received a pretty significant nerfed recently, they turn worse while losing more speed, but the way you play it is still exactly the same as pre nerf. They are still very strong in a down tier.
its only limited in arcade
Gajin completely ruined the Starfighters flight model for 0 reason. Speed was all it ever had to begin with, and so it also just in general ruined the Starfighters.
