Curious to see if the 2A8 will still be running DM-53 or get something with an anti-ERA tip now (since gaijin doesnt want to believe documents stating DM53 has anti-ERA capabilities)
Thats what im wondering as well. Whether we finally get a new round or if one of the most modern MBTs in the world is still gonna use a round from the early 2000s
probably aint getting anything tbf. Afaik, DM63 and DM73 both have the same penetrator as DM53, but never know, gaijin could make stuff up, I doubt it tho. They’ll probs give us 2A8 early without LWS, everyone else gets 2A8’s with LWS, and we’ll get an LWS 2A8 in ~2y, still with DM53 to fight the T-14 cuz “it can pen the T-14’s turret”
We probably wont get anti ERA capabilites but lets be honest here that realistically doesnt do anything anyway on the M829A3 so its really not that important. Maybe Gaijin will be gracious and give us the 73 with the slight performance increase.
It does a lot actually, what are you talking about? The anti-ERA capabilities of 829A3 are why the US M1A2’s are doing so well now. Sure, it doesnt help vs Relikt, but it punches through K5, which means you can afford to flub shots on most RU tanks and hit their UFP without getting punished by a non-pen.
M1A2SEP’s winrate jumped 11% from the addition of M829A3:
Its dropped a to about half that since, but its still higher than it’d ever been before that
Nah im pretty sure that performance increase is because of the general buffs to the US overall and specifically to the Abrams damage model and armor. That slight performance increase against K5 tanks which are already coughing babys against the hydrogen bomb Abrams is not responsible for that increase.
The Abrams volumetric change helped it far more. K5 is still trolly agains 829A3 anyway.
