It is a bit annoying that 2A7V is only as armored as T-80BVM instead of as armored as T-90M.
It’s not even as armoured as the BVM?? The hull is significantly weaker, the beak doesn’t offer near the same protection, new internal composite is missing, the Duel Add-On plate makes the upper plate weaker than it is on the 2A6 lmao.
You literally trade one weak area (beak on the 2A6) for another (UFP on the 2A7V), while also being less mobile (because Gaijin didn’t bother to make it accelerate as fast as a 2A4, even though it should be), but also added new armour holes to it, and made the turret weaker against CE munitions.
The only benefits it brings over the 2A6 are hull spall liners, and 3rd generation thermals.

A single tiny ricochet spot doesn’t outweigh a massive upgrade in armor everywhere else. Plus, you’re looking at DM53 at 500m. At more reasonable ranges shells you’ll fight will have a much harder time getting through. Look at 3BM60 for example.
It’s not tiny spot mate? It’s the entire upper plate. I tested it in-game, and it will never stop anything with more penetration than 3BM-46.

Check the sentence after that. Cause from the IRL pic it looks closer to the hull than the in-game one we have.

How would that make it weaker?
You’re not making a lick of sense. If anything it’s “”“closer”“” because the module is thicker than it is in the game, but the report is about the incorrect geometry/coverage by the module.

This is depressing at this point. We had the worse Leopard 2 for 3 years now, then we get promised a new, more armored version thats on par with the Strv 122 and then they procede to nerf it into the ground. The current Leopard 2 has less protection than the TVM prototype from the 90s while being a 2010s tank, has wrose acceleration than all the other Leopards while losing the top speed of the other Leopards, IRL this change was made to counteract the mentioned acceleration problem. We’ve made bug reports with an immense amount of soruces about both these problems and they just get shoved away under the bed like all the other NATO tank reports. Why does it take this much effort to fix a few numbers, when provided with all this information. Also why did the armor nerf even take place, while also providing no source about where the Dev team got the numbers from about the mentioned armor nerf.
I’d like to ask any moderator who has any kind of contact with the developer team to please get an answer out of them so we can know why the armor change took place in the first place and when can we expect the resolving of this and other issues about the Leopard 2a7V, because personally I don’t think that it’s fair from the development team to make such drastic changes without explaining it at all.

Even I said that the 2A7V would have ruined top tier if implemented to its full capabilities.
Whatever this is though is just sad and disappointing.
At least you guys personally know how the Leclerc feels now, hopefully it gets better sooner than later. :/
Not gonna lie I am incredible disappointed from the update. Germany only got a broken Leo and a c&p tornado. Not even another vehicle like the flakpanzer zerstorer from the datamines.
Vilkas before a tech tree boxer is really stupid aswell. Taking the puma turret and putting it on the (now existing) boxer chassie would have been enough
