Let’s talk about the Chieftain

Shocking right

So wait, the mk3, 5 etc etc are all about what? half of what they should have compared to IRL?

This should be known by now.

I only made the report over a year ago.

Originally I thought it was just the overlap of the hulls which was incorrect armour wise.
Is it the whole ass UFP which is missing a large portion of armour?

yes, the whole thing including the frontal sides are wrong.

Look at the C900 it has what all the Chieftains should have. Except they should add 10mm to it on average.

I will once I get home man, NGL They’re my favourite tanks but 1 too many times I’ve been caught out by some clown slinging APHE at me and nuked the full think in the UFP.

It makes no sense

Possible to see the foundry inspection sheet?

Would be might handy , I don’t think britain would of used an MBT for almost 30 years if it’s UFP could be ripped clean through by the 100MM gun found on the T54 / 55

But what do we know. There’s a plethora of data showing the tanks having incorrect values in various areas.

This has the allowed variations meaning it could be 8.34in or it could be 7.57in
I think gaijin chose the smaller.

Im sorry but even 7.57 inches is still larger than what is in game, in game they’ve got what 80mm of UFP armour? that’s barely 4 inches

Noooo depends on location

So what parts should we be looking at to get the best idea for the hull armour, as those documents are a bit buggery to read

It’s just connect the dots really

IE

A12 is a square on the left it will tell you the thickness it should be over that area

Rodger that mate, will take me some time to get this figured out over all then.
Thanks though!

The resolution is so low on mobile I can’t see what squares are what

It’s a screenshot of my screenshot lol I’ll get a better one soon.

That would explain it lol I’m just wondering the photo with the measurements showing it having upto potentially 17 inches of effective thickness I find it hard to figure out how it reaches that number because the UFP would need a slope of around 78degrees to acheive anything near that

He doesn’t have the tape parallel to the ground.

So the angle isn’t the slop of the metal.

NGL mate doesn’t seem far off parralel to the ground but OFC would need to do a proper level test for it to be certain,

Don’t get me wrong thouhg, chieftains upper frontal glacis has about a 72 degree slope

It has about that , between 72 and 76 last I checked
