I think people are forgetting that spall liners when announced were ONLY SUPPOSED TO GO ON ONE TANK: THE T-90M.
On the development server the T-90M was introduced with a spall liner. No other tank had one, including the Leo. On Reddit and here people went nuts and started filing bug reports about spall liners. Gaijin not knowing how to get out of this mess, as spall liners have been brought up in the past but always denied until they want to introduce it for the T-90M, were trying to sneak it through quickly and quietly. Which is why it hit the development server in a later patch, which was 3 days away from the patch going live.
So Gaijin caved and added spall liners to SOME tanks as a caveat not realizing how powerful it would make some tanks because they never intended them to have them…like the Leo. So now you have a tank that was made to be played without a spall liner and buffed as such, all of a sudden with a spall liner. Which makes it really good.
The only tank that was supposed to be that good was the T-90M. Thats why all the Russian players are pissed. The other players are pissed at the blatant double standard.
Gaijin has managed to piss off everyone with this one mechanic when it was supposed to benefit Russians and only Russians. To Say this is embarrassing is an understatement.

The 2A7V isnt buffed, its actually nerfed to shit…

The DM53 round it uses is from 1999 and has already been replaced, its stock round (DM33) is from 1987

DM11 doesnt work properly at all. Its fking trash vs light ground targets because using the laser rangefinder to get the proper range just set the fuze to a range where it wont do shit, and it cant hit an air target either.

Its base armor is worse than a Leo 2A5.

The add on armor is worse than the swedish add-on armor despit being 20+ years newer

The turret wedges are missing steel plates in them that were added to eliminate a weakness in the turret armor when fired at at a perpendicular angle from the base armor

The turret was raised by gaijin to make the turret ring an artificial weakspot despite germany fixing that by adding a thick steel ridge to protect it, so in-game the yurret sits ABOVE its own turret ring protection

The mantlet of all late leo 2’s ingame remains MASSIVELY nerfed so as to create an artificial weakspot instead the weakspot of the mantlet from the 2A4 being eliminated with the 2A5 and onwards

The transmission is wrongly geared so its acceleration is worse than it should be. (New transmission irl to give the 2A7V the acceleration of the 2A4 at the expense of a bit of top speed)
Theres been over 30 bug reports put in for the 2A7V for MAJOR modelling issues nerfing it hard. Saying its been buffed is a bad fking joke

Don’t be a cynic dude. Years of clubbing them? Leopards have always been strong. We shouldn’t fight against one another, being cynics with a bias for nations. We all play becouse we want to unlock vehicles and try them out, no mater the flag. Its gaijins inconsistency with every update creating these issues because they purposely ignore or even lie about things to get community approval over there choices of what should get a buff and what shouldn’t, what should be balanced, ect.

Only because the pure penatration is lower it doesn’t mean it is worse. I would say it is even the best ammo in the game, since everything above 550mm is already enough, especially if you see the size of the “splinter spread cone” of russian ammo.

If someone is currently getting stomped as Germany at 11.7, than that would be a massive skill issue.

It currently seems to offer a 2/3rd reduction in spall. I’d bring that down substantially - down to 1/3rd I guess. Still enough to help but not enough to rely on.
I have even stomped sweden with the 2A7V.
I don’t consider myself a great player, but I would seriously doubt the capabilities of someone who isn’t able to get a 65%+ winrate and 1.5-2 K/D in the 2A7V and Strv 122s in current top tier.
These 4 tanks are just that dominant at the moment and honestly something should be done about the top tier situation. Preferably by getting other MBTs up to a similar level over these 4 MBTs nerfed down to the rest.
I believe it’s how all the tanks should be.
