Looking for help to improve my tanking skills with my Leopards. I also looking for someone to help me learn how to fly
Which vehicles are we talking about exactly?
Leopards 2 PL and Leopard 2 PznBtl
And planes?
Level 2 German planes. I have no real idea how to fly lol
Like tier 2 or br 2.0?
Either way, taking the planes with your Leo 2s is an utter deathwish
So props, am I right?
2.0 German Planes.
But I am a Tanker irl, served in a Leopard 2A4M
To be honest, you aren’t going to do much with prop planes at 11.7, but you can bring them if you want. Anyways, in which mode will you use the planes? In ARB, or GRB? Don’t expect to perform much on GRB as you’ll get paired with jets that carry missiles. If we’re talking about ARB, then you should of course explain how you plan to play it, as you might prefer faster aircraft, or more manoeuvrable ones.
I would recommend practicing and advancing in the planes.
I know the Bf 109s are best used in a boom and zoom play style (climbing to a high altitude, descend to attack your target and use your speed to repeat) but I’m not the right person to ask for German aviation.
If you play GAB, just remember to use a backup on your Leos. If your planning GRB, you’d need a far stronger air support line up and at least one other tank.
This would help a ton for feedback.
Remember if your playing GAB, you don’t need to bring a line up of planes.
Also how much experience do you have in game already?
Do the trainer missions, and start with reserves - work your way up in complexity
English is not my first language, so I am sorry if it is not good, but as I often fly Bf 109 G6 in the game I would like to share my experience.
Now first, no matter what plane you are flying, the most important thing for propeller fighters is to not allow the enemy to be behind you (on your six), because you will be in a very significant disadvantage, as he does not have to pull as hard as you do to get his guns properly aimed. Conversely, the most ideal situation in a dogfight is when you can get on the enemies’ six.
Also remember that air combat is a team game, try to stick with at least one teammate and work together to defeat enemies. A tactic that works very well for German planes in my experience, if you can coordinate well with your teammates, is for one fighter to climb and bait an enemy, and when you both stall, the teammate can come in and shoot up the enemy.
Although I mainly fly 109, most propeller German planes have a energy fighter playstyle (energy here basically means kinetic energy + gravitational potential energy), therefore every time you see an enemy, you have to think: Is he higher than me? Is he faster than me? If the answer is yes to both, then he has more energy than you, and you should run away. If the answer is no to both questions, you likely have more energy than he does, so you can try to engage. If one of the answers is yes and the other is no, then you will have to decide carefully, but speed only really matters if the altitude difference is not significant. The most important thing is, don’t try to shoot up everyone you see, be patient, stay at higher altitudes, and start with attacking the highest viable enemy and slowly work your way down.
Once you get to a slightly higher BR, you will start to see the famous models of aircraft. They are all pretty powerful aircraft, espiecially Fw 190 A, which has good weapons, and it can roll really fast. Just remember to avoid turnfighting as the turning is not as good as most of the russian or british or japanese planes. Bf 109 C can also roll very well, although not as good as the 190, but it can turn slightly better. That being said it is still not recommended to turn fight people, instead because of its excellent and powerful engine you should try to use it to keep your energy higher than the opponent. The He-112 you are probably flying right now likely has similar characteristics to the Bf 109, but I can’t remember as I haven’t flown it for a long time.
When you engage, try to bait him into thinking he can shoot you, so you fly close above him around 1.5 km away, then he will try to pull up and shoot you. Then, you dodge left and right, so he cannot hit you, and then he will eventually stall. That is when he cannot maneuver and is therefore most vulnerable and you can try to engage. Alternatively, if you see a distracted enemy (e.g. he is chasing or getting chased by your teammate), you can try to fly behind him.
BnZ will be very important, and don’t try to turn fight, instead abuse your energy advantage, eventually they won’t be able to climb because they are too slow, and will stall. If the enemy is smart, he will not stall, but probably dive/run away, and you can then be on his tail. Since you are using early variants of of the German fighters, the engine power is not as good as the later ones, but it is still more than the vast majority of enemies you will meet, unless you are unluckily in a uptier battle.
I also think, when you get to the F or G variants for Bf 109, it is useful to get the gun pods, it makes it much more easier to get a kill. just dont use the mk108 ones unless you are planning to shoot bombers, as they have low muzzle velocity and are very hard to aim. However, they do a lot of damage if they do hit.
Finally, I recommend you watch youtube video on basic fighter maneuvers, and learn them, in particular the hammer head, split s, high and low yoyos, and flat/rolling scissors, they will be very useful in an energy fight.Good luck with your flying. If you have any more questions about flying I will be happy to help
