The NATO standard for MBTs is currently 120mm, 130mm would be outside the standard.

It’s a new type of paint. It’s still bring rolled out. Only a few units have their vehicles painted with this color currently, but it is going to become the standard for combat vehicles in the force. Older vehicles should also receive this paint.

Unfortunately, no. We were in the motorpool conducting training, and it was a “oh, they really do look different” type of moment. I didn’t think to get a photo. I don’t think I would be able to put it up here anyway because the photo would have to be taken through the gunner’s sights, and I don’t think that’s something I can post on an open forum without permission.

This isnt quite valid at all. by now, March 2025, much of its specs are now known, currently, Russia is heavily unbalanced via war of attrition, and the slightly better armor + APS + faster reload, is NOT enough. Russia has the Drozd APS, Isreal, the Trophy APS, they werent not added just because noone else had them yet, the armor upgrade is not enough to come close to most other countries, it would still be less than the Abrams series overall, and the faster speed, although slightly faster, is still beat by Japans Type 90, and Fuji variant. There is no good reason not to add it, a leopard 2A7 would have no contest beating the 2A8, and many, many, many countries have the 2A7. I just have to disagree, a BR of 13.0 considering what else might be there would make the 2A8 practically useless.
Specifically, the ONLY German tank that could handle the 13.0+ BR range against the Abrams X, Cringemata etc, is the Panther KF51. the 2A8 is like one of the 10 T80 and T70 variants, its one more vehicle but NOT enough of a leap to keep out.

Germany will get a Leo 3 w/130mm (which has already begun its design process) and it’s guaranteed to perform vastly better.
Leo 2A7V is already missing likke 30-40% of its frontal armor so…
