I didn’t see a thing in leopard 2a4 as example, about their turret basket/turret horizontal drive explonation, why after a dameged module u cant move it at all. In reality u can move damaged turret side ways (horizontaly) in a manual/emergency way. Why this thing still not fixed? Then ussr t-72/t-80 got hit in basket, they lose only autoloder, but not a horizontal drive. That dont have any sense and theres in my opinion a bad balance, if u do a “realistic war game” please do it correctly, its includes all leopard 2/strv 121/122 and abrams tanks family.
What the point of turning the turret when they cannot even shoot due to a damaged autoloader? they do however have one advantage which is when they already have a shell loaded so they still can shoot once, and that’s about it. While NATO’s can do the same by turning the hull and fire all the remaining shells
T-72/T-80 when they got shot by lower plate, they turret stays in working condition, just autoloader out. Like u said, the shell previous loaded can be shot. My mentionet problem is about leopard 2/ abrams damage module whos incorect. Playing with leopard 2a4, u got a hit, and only turret basket out, but u cant even move a inch of turret in sides. Thats why its sucks, in reality if turret basket or horizontal electro hidraulic gear got damage, the crew can manualy crank a horizontal turret gear and move it on sideways but slower.
U can check the documents of that thing, its public. Next thing why im saying that? Cuz in real life i was serving in army, saw the leopard 2a6, m1a2 abrams, they both have same old type of manual horizontal turret drive
