Out of the three MBTs announced at EuroSatory 20204, this is my favorite. +1
A nice change of pace from writing suggestions on 80 year old vehicles!
France had nothing to do with this tank
KNDS is a Franco-German company. it’s 50/50.
so yeah, the French have something to do with it.
such MBT will have nothing new revealed before serial years.
just like any new MBT
and we know little about any of the modern MBT.
the only reliable information is the ammo carried. the gun (sometimes without the performance) and the mobility. all the rest is guesswork (especially the armor).
but when it comes to having a place to gather and share information, a suggestion is the perfect place. the members of the community could eventually help and share the information they have (hopefully those who are unclassified)
That’s not how it works. It’s like saying All CV90s should go to Britain and not Sweden because they are made by BAE Systems. KMW and Nexter are still their own seperate companies with their own design teams, factories, and so on. Should the Leopard 2A8 be suggested for France as well? Or the Leclerc Evolution to Germany?
You make a fair point. I agree with you. And especially with stuff like the Challenger 3 (TD), anything is on the table now.
Hopefully with better “Armor Penetration” and “Hull Armor” as well right?
KNDS is split into the German and French parts. The data sheet of the 2A-RC 3 is from the German part and states, “Unless otherwise indicated, all products are registered trademarks of KNDS Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG.” I think it’s fair to say that this is German, not French.
It’s like saying Germany has a claim on the Leclerc EVO because it’s also from KNDS. If you are going to say multiple nations have a claim on a tank due to the company that made it, it goes both ways, not just one.
I think the RU forum put up a suggestion for this within a day of it being unveiled.
bruhhhh
Ru forum suggestions work differently though, literally any can put a suggestion up, then it gets voted on I think.
Notice that i keep a common sense in the nation in wich I choose to suggest it.
while France has a claim over this tank, I leave it to Germany.
While Germany has a claim on the Leclerc Evolution, I think it’s more fit for France.
for me, it sounds fair.
but keep in mind the CV90 is designed by Hägglunds/Bofors and the UK is not using it or showing any interest. and Sweden uses it a lot, was the first user, and the tank was first designed for their need.
while the Thing with the Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0, there is currently no nation that ordered it or used it.
so despite my opinion which says this tank would be weird in the French tech tree, it remains that France has as much claim until the situation with the tank changes (if it is ordered for example).
Leopard 3
since the Challenger 2 Rheinmetall prototype was suggested in Germany while it was designed by Rheinmetall UK, it is obvious that a claim like that counts nonetheless.
but while i recognize there is a claim from both nations, my opinion is this tank would be a weird addition for France.
just like the Leclerc évolution would be a weird addition for Germany.
or the Challenger 2 demonstrator from Rheinmetall for that matter.
this suggestion was written over 2 weeks ago. the tank was revealed a bit before. but most of the writing was done ahead. the time the suggestion was pending is sometimes long.
i also had written a suggestion for the Leopard 2 EVO. but I did the mistake of posting it 5 days before it was revealed and the suggestion wasn’t approved because I didn’t link the source it wasn’t released.
Are you certain the Leopard 2 A-RC uses an Akeron MP? I was under the impression it uses Spikes. Also, I don’t believe that’s an ARX 30 RCWS. Something German, I’d imagine.
i see no source there.
maybe you should verify the source before just bringing that up
