Thanks your input. Struggle continues with Leopard 1A5. However it seems that the game has secretly at some time exchanged my faulty L1A5 (Monday model) with a more reliable Wednesday model. Now it is almost as good as the 2 other vehicles in my 9.3 setup :-)

Meanwhile in the real world:
All Leo1s are just a short autocannon burst away from death at any angle: Leo1, Leo A1A1, LeoA15.
Play like you’ve got no armour at all, because you pretty much don’t.
The Leopard 1A1 and 1A5 generally trade armor for mobility and firepower, which I much prefer over being something heavy. They remain effective even in uptiers, as you can penetrate most targets with ease. The best part, however, is being able to leave and re-enter cover quickly, allowing you to take down multiple enemies with minimal exposure time. Vehicles equipped with automatic cannons are the true counters to any Leopard, which is why I try to avoid using them on closed maps.
