Leclerc needs some changes :(

Leclerc, the pride of the French Army and a world-renowned main battle tank, has not performed exceptionally well in the game. In the new updates, where several new vehicles have got a 5-second reload time, the Leclerc’s firepower is no longer as prominent advantage. At the same time, some technical issues have led to reduced defensive capabilities, which have become a fatal flaw for this tank.

Worse still, the use of the OFL 120 F1 round, with its relatively light projectile and lower penetration values, has further weakened its firepower. Imagine this: Abrams, which have a similarly BR as Leclerc, can withstand direct hits from 3BM60 on most areas of its turret front while firing M829A2 APFSDS rounds with 629mm of penetration every 5.3 seconds (using expert crew data, as this is likely the choice for most players). Today, Ammunition M829A2 has even been made available for the Abrams HC at a BR of 11.7. Meanwhile, the Leclerc, equipped with the OFL 120 F1, which has lower penetration and post-penetration effects, is facing off against the Strv122s and Leopard 2A7 at a battle rating of 12.0. This makes French players feel deeply unfair. Especially at the BR of 12.0.

So my suggestions are as follows:

  1. We need to equip the SXXI and AZUR series with OFL 120 F2 ammunition. There is plenty of evidence showing that its penetration exceeds 600mm and has much better post-penetration effects than the F1.
  2. All Leclerc tanks that can only be equipped with the OFL 120 F1 should have their battle rating lowered to 11.7, such as the Leclerc S1 and Leclerc S2.
  3. The armor of the Leclerc, especially the turret armor, should undergo some assessment and remake. Additionally, the NERA effects of the AZUR are not performing well.
  4. The engine performance of the Leclerc is not very good, especially during its initial acceleration phase.
  5. Finally, I believe all French tech tree players are looking forward to see the Leclerc XLR. :)

Many people are saying that the French TT could may likely get the Dutch Leopard 2A5 and A6 in the next update. However, without the benefit of D-tech armor, the strength of French ground vehicles remains limited (not to mention, we are discussing the changes needed for the Leclerc, which has little to do with the addition of the Leopard 2 series).

Qu’en pensez-vous, les gars? Feel free to leave a comment below. :)

There’s already a topic about this.
If OFL 120 F2’s pen is at 60 degrees, which it is, OFL 120 F1 already pens over 650mm of steel at 60 degrees.
F2 is not a major increase in performance according to many that have researched the subject.

Ive read these topic which are quite similar to mine, but i did a summary and mentioned a lot of new options for gaijin. New round is essential but i think if the penetration from gaijin’s calculation proved that F2 just have about 600mm pen, I think its better to enhance the effect after penetration for F2, After all, the diameter of the F2 is larger than that of the F1 by a circle.
