The Lazanski on display.

  • Description :
    • The Lazanski is a new 8x8 armored combat vehicle developed by Yugoimport SDPR that was first unveiled in October 2021 at the Partner-2021 military exhibition. The Lazanski is a newly developed vehicle, indigenously developed in Serbia that can transport a total of 10 personnel, not including the 3-man crew required to operate the vehicle, the Gunner, Driver, and Commander. The Driver is located in the front of the vehicle next to the engine (if facing the front of the vehicle), with the Commander directly behind the Driver. The Gunner is located under the combat module. The Lazanski is equipped with heavy modular armor to increase crew survivability. This armor is ceramic in design, capable of withstanding up to 30mm APFSDS-T or STANAG 4569 Level 6 when fully equipped. The hull is also in a V-shape, increasing survivability against IED’s and Mines. This mine protection is rated at STANAG 4569 Level 4. When fully equipped with armor, the vehicle weighs a heavy 36 tons but can be as light as 26 tons when sporting a lighter armor configuration and combat load. To power this vehicle, the Lazanski is equipped with a Caterpillar C13 Turbocharged Diesel Engine that outputs just over 700 horsepower. This is linked with a 6-speed Allison 4000SP automatic transmission that allows for quick acceleration even when fully equipped. In-terms of firepower, the Lazanski utilizes a remote weapon station dubbed the Au-220M combat module that sports a 2A90 57mm automatic cannon that can target ground vehicles using APFSDS-T or air targets with its Airburst munitions. A later modification to the vehicle, the barrel received a thermal sleeve. The Fire Control System is enabled for target tracking of low-flying aircraft, drones, and helicopters which allows the crew to support dismounting infantry in all types of combat situations. Only a single prototype of the vehicle has been made with further production unknown. The Lazanski has not been officially adopted by the Serbian military as of yet, and remains in a development status however prospects of production remain high.

  • In-game:
    • The Lazanski is a heavily armored combat vehicle that can engage both ground and air targets alike. Being highly mobile and can equip heavy armor protection, the Lazanski can outflank enemies and survive against deadly low caliber APFSDS-T rounds from automatic cannons that usually punish other light vehicles. The Au-220M module is highly effective as seen on the 2S38 in-game, capable of shredding targets with 57mm APFSDS-T rounds or using its HE-VT to shoot down low flying aircraft, drones, and helicopters. The Lazanski would perform well in a Yugoslavian Ground Forces tree, likely capping the light vehicle line.
    • Estimated Battle Rating: 10.7

  • The Lazanski, essentially a wheeled version of the 2S38 that would be more mobile and survivable thanks to its frontal engine and the composite add-on armor. BR will be increased to 10.7.

During a small display of armaments at VTI HQ in Žarkovo in March 2024, the Assistant Minister for Material Resources showed a 40 mm Bofors and said that Yugoimport was preparing to install it on an IFV. Considering that Au-220M turrets are currently unavailable, the IFV in question may be the Lazanski. Perhaps we will see it armed with a 40 mm RCWS at next year’s Partner exhibition.
