Hello, I’d like to suggest a neat vehicle, a member of the Canadian LAV family, the LAV-III TUA.

History:
In 1994, a replacement project for the APCs in Canadian service would be started, however it wasn’t a new project, as it was made out of the remains of an earlier project known as the Multi-Role Combat Vehicle (MRCV) in July of 1991. The sub-project for the LAV-III would indicate a recommendation for a direct purchase to take advantage of the commonality with the current LAVs. Allowing it to use the existing production lines to speed up development and implementation. This would accumulate in the government order 240 of the APCs, with the start of delivery in 1997, and room for additional orders of batches made up of 120, 120 and 171 vehicles, with an end goal of purchasing a total of 651 vehicles. The orders for the remaining Vehicles would be approved in 1998. The LAV-III was to be an all-weather state-of-the-art 8x8 light armoured vehicle. Which the army considered this key for the 21st century, allowing for leading-edge battlefield systems.
The LAV-III TUA almost didn’t exist. As in the mid 1990s, the procurement plans for the vehicle would end up being slashed in half. Well, the TUA version was never cancelled; it did lack the funding to be built, as the plan was to recycle the Kvaerner Turrets from the M113A2 TUAs for them, so the parts were there. The TUA variant of the LAV would get it’s luckly break when DND had decided to buy the MGS as a decision to move to a pure LAV fleet (a project that would be dropped after taking part in the mission to Afghanistan). As it brought the funding needed to make the LAV-III TUA. 71 one of these the CF intended to field, but 33 of the hulls meant for the project would be converted into infantry carriers.
