Which sounds like it’s just a worse La-7 due to having 23mm cannons with less ammo and probably worse flight performance.
Since the 20mm FI-T deal like 80% the damage of 23mm FI-T despite having half the weight, the 23mm cannons are straight up worse armaments.
It does. The La-11 carries a lot more fuel as, if I remember things right, it was meant as an escort fighter. It also just has far higher empty weight.
If I did my math right, an La-11 with full ammo load and minimum fuel weights 300 kg more than an La-7 in the same conditions, 3259 kg compared to 2954 (got the weight information from datamines).
The empty weight is 2981 vs 2780.5 kg, the maximum fuel weight is 544 vs 330 kg (minimum fuel is 30% of the maximum fuel load), the oil weight (for cooling) is 70 vs 42 kg, and the La-11 carries 225 rounds each weighting 0.199 kg while the La-7 is 340 rounds weighting 0.096 kg (both default belt, the weight of the ammunition is determined by the first round in the belt).

Does WT only take the shell weight into account instead of the whole cartridge?
A 20mm round weighs 185g and the 23mm 340g.
There is no value for the entire cartridge weight, plane ammunition in game only takes the projectile weight into account.

There’s also the weight for belt links, which can be quite heavy for things like the MK 108.
And in real combat it cant be as fast as a la7 due to acceleration issues =(
Plus the additional weight acts kinda awkward. idk how but its not like a la9+iron ingot, since its respond to your controls is just toooo slow, maybe there is sth to do with CoM
It is essentially a paper airplane filled with fuel tanks, the design was for it to fly as far as possible.
