KV-8: Lord of Fire

and a cool camo too 🤑

Make it 3.3 and i will take it. It has standard KV ZiS-5 turret with a big weakspot, it’s not outrageously armored for it’s BR. 45mm gun is pathetic, it can barely pen 3.7 Pz IVs, it shouldn’t face 4.7 tanks. It’s insane.

According to data provided by one of the forum users a few months ago, 4.7 is the 3rd most downtiered BR in the game, only behind top tier and 2.0. That means this thing will face stuff like Churchill VII or T-14 pretty much every other game if nothing is done about it.

Nah 4.7 got nuked with everything moving to 4.0 I’ve been clubbing with 3.7 tanks and it’s been a dream

Even if uptiers are less frequent at 3.7 now it was only a secondary factor. The tank is still total garbage for 3.7 standard. 45mm is already rough on 3.0 T-126 which is mobile and can flank. At 3.7 it is beyond abysmal.

I play the Finnish T-50 at 4.0 which is just a less armored T-126 the KV has the reload advantage and at its tier and in a downtier it will be solid, especially with its current damage model and internal Trunion eating spall

It will not be solid. The fact that it’s a less armored T-126 only actually makes the T-50 better as it allows it to flank reliably. With 45mm APHE you can do a lot if you have the enemy side on.

The whole problem is that the KV simply can’t do that, and most tanks of this BR are completely imprevious to this gun frontally or can only be penned in tiny pixel sized weakspots.

You do know your entire argument is “this tank will be bad in uptiers mediocre in on tiers and good in downtiers” literally just mimics 90% of heavy tanks? Additionally you’re forgetting the average player IQ around this tier is just about room temp.

Besides if you skip it and it does go down then you’ve only hurt yourself, might as well grab it if you have time. If not it’s not a huge loss

It’s not. Even your average medium tanks at or around this BR are hard to engage with this gun. I won’t even mention heavies or tanks you can meet in uptiers, since many of those you can’t even engage side on which is insane.

If the flamethrower could destroy engines as it’s supposed to, we could rediscuss the 3.7 BR as you could simply play it like a 75 jumbo, immobilizing the enemy and then going in for a side shot, but as it currently stands with you needing 3 direct shots to even destroy a track and 2/3 more for a gun it’s pretty much unusable.

That’s not a valid argument. You can beat pretty much anyone with any tank if they are stupid enough and you have a way to somehow damage them.

Not happening, how often does gaijin even touch vehicles of such low BR. Last battle rating change was the first one in like around a year that touched more than like 1 ground vehicle from Rank 2. Gaijin also has a tendency to completely forget about event vehicles as soon as the event is done. Even if it’stotal garbage chances of snail actually doing anything about it are miniscule.

I mean, again you keep ignoring it but you also have a far faster reload and better armor than most other heavies at this tier. The trade off for pen was better armor and reload.

It’s definitely gonna be a weaker tank alone but in a group it shouldn’t be too bad.

Either way I look forward to getting it and using it against 2.7 players

The armor is basically KV-1 ZIS with a considerably large turret weakspot. It’s nothing that tanks of this BR can’t deal with.

Even the “downtier enemies” it meets usually do have a fair fighting chance, unless it’s like a stuart, but then again it’s a full downtier light tank we speak of here.

US has M4 105, M10, M3 Lee and stuarts, for germany pretty much everything around this BR has either a 75mm with 150 pen or a 50mm with over 100, Brits also have very solid guns around this BR with even weakest lights having at least 90 pen, and most other vehicles being over 100.

And most uptier enemis can just straight up ignore the armor all together. Especially the massive flood of SPHs that gaijin added for literally 0 reason that just gets to point and click at any tank with 0 aiming.

I mean it’s about the same as on the Zis but with the added benefit of the Flamethrower eating the round at times, also I think you’re over selling the performance of a lot of these guns, if you angle properly it won’t be a big deal especially with the added armor on the bottom plate and once more you out reload them making you the more consistent vehicle to get shots on vehicles. Additionally all the shermans at this tier can be nuked with the 45 pretty easily

yeah, how can you sell an old, rusty, stinky WW2 tank for those juicy 80 dolarucos?

By nuked pretty easily you mean somehow get one of those 2 hull weakspots on M4 or hit the MG port on M4A2 before he nukes the corner of your turret with APHE and one shots you, with him being pretty much guaranteed the first shot because of his stab? If you want to fire you can’t angle your turret. and if you can’t do that, it’s pretty much a guaranteed pen with US 75mm.

M4A1 is easy, sure, but no one plays that ever since they bumped it up to 3.7 as they can just use the better M4.

I’m gonna ask this nicely but you do know how to aim right? The shermans can be tough if you panic shoot but you have a lot of armor and they need to get micro shots on you, not to mention just flame them and blind them with the smoke.

Those volumetric patches are a little too big

Abrams to 1.0

worst part is that they are located on the weakspot of the KV-1’s turret.

My most played tank is Jumbo, so i am probably as used as it gets to sniping weakspots.

What i mean is that both of you will be aiming and sherman has a big advantage in such a duel, as it will always get the first shot off in an engagement.

Seems balanced since abrams has no armor…

People saying flamethrower its useless when at least 1/4 of your enemy team will have an open top at that BR and can also be used to blind the enemy.
