The current in-game performance of the Krupp-Steyr Waffenträger appears historically inaccurate regarding both engine power and reload speed.
Engine Power:
The vehicle currently uses a 124 hp engine in War Thunder. However, historical documentation indicates that the prototype was intended to use either:
Reload Rate:
The current reload time (~12.4 seconds) seems too slow for an open-turret Waffenträger equipped with the 8.8 cm PaK 43. Historical records document a firing rate of approximately 6–10 rounds per minute, equivalent to roughly 6–10 seconds reload time under combat conditions.
Considering the spacious open fighting compartment, loading efficiency should realistically exceed that of enclosed heavy tanks.
Proposal:
Increase engine power to 140 hp
Reduce reload time to approximately 8–9 seconds
I dont think there would be any issues to balance it since it still has paper thin armour and a slow turret turn speed.
Irrelevant, tanks only have their correct engine power after you get the mobility updates this is the same for every vehicle, so unless you have proof that they used the 180hp engine, 140hp is correct.
The Krupp-Steyr Waffenträger prototype is documented with a planned 140 hp Steyr boxer engine, while some sources also reference the possibility of a 180 hp Praga engine. In-game, however, the stock configuration is below even the historically referenced 140 hp figure. Im perfectly happy with 140hp stock if it gets 180hp max.
And with the reload i made a mistake. The reload is even worse like you mentioned.
by the way maybe do some research yourself ? It aint that hard i managed to do it too.
(not trying to be rude)
If you can correct me go on. I dont see a problem with that but its kinda like your throwing info at me without looking up if its even true.
The Nashorn has the same gun, a faster reload, MGs, better gun depression, a larger crew, and a more powerful engine. Meanwhile, the Waffenträger is extremely fragile. Its gun is insanely strong for the BR, but that’s pretty much the only thing it has going for it.
The Krupp-Steyr Waffen Waffenträger was planned to have a 140 hp engine during its production with an 180 hp engine in the future, however the vehicle prototype was only built with a ~120 hp engine due to issues with the vehicle mechanics and other various issues alongside. In War Thunder it’s accurate, and in somewhat not totally (which is good) since the player is not forced to play the vehicle the entire time with the underpowered original engine of the final product.
According to secondary data: The vehicle was originally installed with the Steyr 1500A/RSO engine which provided around 85 to 100 horsepower at best conditions, it was planned to install the Steyr Boxermotor in the future since it was under testing and the Praga EPA AC/2 which would give the vehicle a 180 horsepower alternative by the Czech but financial support was halted in favour of the Ardelt design with a 100 horsepower Maybach HL engine.
