HISTORY

Spoiler

The Fridtjof Nansen class is a Norwegian frigate class that was built at the Spanish shipyard Navantia. Five frigates were ordered and in addition six NH-90 helicopters for these frigates. The total cost of this was 21 billion Norwegian kroner, and was the largest investment in the Norwegian defense in Norwegian history. The pennant numbers on the frigates go from F310 to F314 and the names they have been given are named after famous Norwegians: Fridtjof Nansen, Roald Amundsen, Otto Sverdrup, Thor Heyerdahl and Helge Ingstad.

This class was acquired to replace the aging Oslo class of frigates that were built in Norway in the 60s, which then had steam engines. The new frigates in the Fridtjof Nansen class differ from the Oslo class frigates in that they are much larger and heavier, have many more and modern systems, both electronic and automatic, and they are designed so that the ship’s radar signature is to be greatly reduced.

The Fridtjof Nansen class are the only current ships in the Norwegian Navy that have the ability to fight submarines, in addition to this they have NH-90 helicopters that can drop syppsonars and lightweight torpedoes and in addition to much better sonar equipment these become far more effective for warfare against submarines than the Oslo class was.

Unlike the other vessels of the Fridtjof Nansen class frigates, the KNM Thor Heyerdahl F 314 was built with two 8-cell Mk-41 VLS modules instead of one as we see on the other vessels in this class. This is the only difference between those two vessels as I know about

IN GAME
This is obviously a suggestion for the future naval of warthunder, these ships will be able to be placed high in the tree, either as part of a future Swedish tree or a tree with Norway, Denmark and Iceland combined. With many powerful anti-ship missiles, good armor against submarine weapons and very good anti-air reinforcements, this should be a very good ship

I will be updating this frigate in the future as they operate and update this class of frigates with various things, so the armament section will once be divided into Ealy and Late Service
