Well Germany’s F-4F ICE is foreshadowed beyond belief. AV-8B+ being added before 8NA means they are working on the entire F-18 radar user fleet.
If I checked radar use, I would’ve predicted AV-8B+ alongside F-4F ICE. I always forgot to check what radar ICE used.

We’ve had one. From 12.0 to 12.3, with Mig-29SMT & F-16C.
12.0 was decompression, which led to notable 11.3s moving to 11.7 as well.
JA37Ds were Cs with added 9L, AMRAAM and BOL.pod capabilities
they were a stopgap solution until the Gripens were ready
11.7 to 12.0 was a BR raise, whether it was for decompression or not.
Ok? I know that but it doesn’t change that fact that JA37D is worthless without AIM-120. Skyflash is simply trash at 11.7, AIM-9L can be easily flared and Viggen’s FM is on 11.0 level.

Well if you really want RB74 for your Viggen then just get the AJS. JA37D should get RB99 which was the main feature of this version btw. JA37D without BR99 would be like F-14 without AIM-54.

XF-2 could be the same BR as the F-16C or one higher like 12.7 so very doable compared to a completely new airframe like the F-15J (that’s assuming we even get the F-15C).

XF-2 would’ve started development after F-15 and is an entirely new airframe.
We’re at F-15C BRs and obviously we’re getting F-15C as that’s Japan’s only option for 12.3.
