Kings of Battle - Rumor Round-Up and Discussion (Part 1)

Norway will fill that gap nicely plus the Finnish air sub line isn’t a thing anymore now as at least 3 to 4 Swedish aircraft have found their way in.

Btw nice name change Von after that thing lmao

You have no way of knowing that, and the Finnish air line very much exists, and your insistence that it doesn’t doesn’t change that fact.

7 Finnish and 3 Swedish yea and no doubt more will move in

Personally I’m interested in china getting the upgraded F-16 as it would allow them to get very good CAS at top tier. Currently Chinas best CAS plane is the F-16 with only AGM-65B’s and no targeting pod, which is far from ideal, and even if China gets a say a JH-7, it at best can only carry 4 TV guided weapons, tho they would have crazy range and you’d still have a nice targeting pod

Q: Is it possible for the Swedish branch to be combined with other vehicles to some “Nordic” branch in future, which would include Swedish, Finnish, Dutch and Norwegian vehicles?

A: There will most certainly be something of this kind, except that the name of the branch will stay Swedish. But we do have plans to add Scandinavian countries vehicles – and first of all to add Finnish vehicles to the Swedish branch, like it was done with RSA vehicles in the British branch. Finland doesn’t have a lot of its own vehicles, most of its force being bought and modified, however it fills some currently free spaces in the Swedish branch quite well. That is, it adds competitive vehicles for such ranks and battle ratings, that has a lack of vehicles. That’s why we see it as one of improvements to the Swedish branch. Other Scandinavian countries, I think, will appear as premium or event vehicles. There is no point in changing the Swedish branch name, as long as Swedish vehicles are the majority of it.

There are no researchable Norwegian vehicles in the tech tree, only premiums which is consistent with what BVVD said. Therefore, the only way a Norwegian F-16 would show up is as a premium for Rank 8 which isn’t happening anytime soon.

And that’s subject to change at any time.
Especially as we get to higher BRs where Sweden may need a new Leopard 2 in the tech tree, such as 2A8, but only Norway has that, so…

Your "subject to change at any time” is also subject to the burden of proof. Unless you provide evidence to back up your claim that Gaijin has changed their minds about this, the Q&A remains true to this day. Your opinion/speculation (or anyone else’s, including mine) does not hold the same value as an official statement from Gaijin.

Saying that this year “Sweden will get Norwegian F16" is the equivalent of saying “USSR will get Czech Leopard 2A4s”. There is no backing to either claim and is therefore is borderline wishlisting and completely off-topic as there is not even a hint of either coming this year, yet alone next patch.

Gripen is basically confirmed this year which already solves the Swedish top tier air problem so it makes no sense why people are talking about a Norwegian F16.

May I request a step back?

Gripen is confirmed, a 12.3 - 12.7 jet that will never fill the 12.0 position.

I ain’t saying Norway’s coming this year, and clearly Leopard 2A8 for any nation won’t be a this year item.
All I stated was a reference to Gaijin’s behavior to state their mind in the moment, then progress from that thought into an act later on in time.

Norway could come into the tech tree proper; and there are softer ways to dismiss that speculation.

We recently got Hungary, so the likelihood of more vehicles from a nation that isn’t formally in any tech tree proper is unlikely, especially when the next focus for Gaijin in regards to sub trees is very foreshadowed to Japan.
In regards to Japan & Sweden, both have completely valid 12.3s available to them, F-15J [F-15C], and Gripen. So while Sweden will be without a 12.0, they’ll still have a great jet for people to enjoy likely this next major update.

Gaijin has on many occasions limited a vehicle’s weaponry for a number of reasons, one of them being to fill gaps, like with the Sea Harrier FRS.1 Early, so it’s not unthinkable that Gaijin will add the JAS39C with RB99’s at 12.3/7 and the JAS39A or B at 12.0 with only RB74’s.

Many nations have a gap, but that’s just how it is, it’s not special to Sweden.

Exactly, they’re not coming this year and last time I checked, this thread is called “Next Major Update - Rumour Round-Up and Discussion”, not “Post 2023 Major Updates - Rumour Round-Up and Discussion”. As you’ve said, Hungary was just released so a new nation is unlikely and therefore discussion of another nation for the next update without any evidence of another nation coming this year is off-topic.

We have only two things confirmed for this year so far (which means next update or the update after):

  • New leopard 2 varient
  • Top tier jets for Britian and Sweden

(Might have missed something else, not sure)

Such as?

It’s the paragraph below that quote you made.

We already have “new” leo2 pso. So only new jets for brits and sverige

Germany’s getting a more armored Leopard 2 this year as well.

Smin confirmed at least one more Leopard 2 for this year.

Yeah, but for who?

Smin was referring to Germany

Must be for rank 8 then.

Yeah I would be very suprised if it wasn’t for rank 8. Too many coincidences otherwise.

He didn’t say in what tech tree. Don’t forget about that.

Smin replied to German complaints in a mainly German thread.

I’m very confident Smin is talking about a new Leopard 2 for Germany.
